Merriam-Webster Defines ‘Bloodbath’ as a ‘Major Economic Disaster’

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines the term “bloodbath” as a “major economic disaster,” a characterization used by former President Donald Trump to describe what he believes will happen to America’s auto industry without fierce tariffs on China.

During a speech in Ohio last weekend, Trump said:

Let me tell you something to China, if you’re listening President Xi — and you and I are friends but he understands the way I deal — those big, monster car manufacturing plants that you’re building in Mexico right now, and you think you’re going to get that and you’re going to not hire Americans and you’re going to sell the cars to us, no. [Emphasis added]

We’re going to put a 100 percent tariff on every single car that comes across the line. And you’re not going to be able to sell those cars if I get elected. Now if I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the whole, that’s going to be the least of it, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the country; that’s going to be the least of it. [Emphasis added]

The corporate media, President Joe Biden’s presidential campaign, and elected Democrats jumped on Trump’s remarks, claiming he used the term “bloodbath” to describe political violence if he is not elected.

Unfortunately, that is all too true. Just like children ingest all the left wing twatter the schools feed them. It's an uphill battle.

The domestic auto industry was a major pillar in our prosecution of WW2. Letting it die due to Chinese competition from Mexico would not be a good thing for our defense stance. Which the Chinese surely know. Death by 1000 cuts.

That can be changed.

When every “dictionary” is on-line, new definitions will be devised to fit the needs of the state. And the old definitions (which do not serve the state’s interests) will be erased.

So very true….
I was amazed to learn that Ford had produced so many B24 bombers in such a short period of time. Something like 15 thousand in about a year and a half

Left wing nuts will pressure MW to change this definition. Anything, including changing the English language, to fit their narrative.

Didn’t Joe Moron on Morning Joe claim that he has never heard “bloodbath” used with macro-economics?!

Not my Merriam-Webster dictionary. Bloodbath is defined as a “massacre.” That is it; there are no secondary meanings given. This is a 2016 paperback edition, 851 pages.
