A migrant TikToker with a 500,000-strong online following is offering his comrades tips on how to “invade” unoccupied homes and invoke squatter’s rights in the United States.
Venezuelan national Leonel Moreno, who goes by the handle @leitooficial_25 on TikTok and Instagram and appears to live in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio, said in a recent video that under US law, “if a house is not inhabited, we can seize it.”
He appeared to be referring to adverse possession laws, commonly known as squatter’s rights, which allow unlawful property occupants rights over the property they occupy without the owner’s consent.
Moreno claimed in the viral TikTok clip, which has drawn close to 4 million views, that he has friends who have “already taken about seven homes.”

How did you find that out?
I have a cousin who is far left liberal- she is totally unreasonable. She is allowed to denigrate repub, icans, but when we use facts to denounce her asinine claims, she holds her “stop hand” ✋️ and informs us that 1: she refuses to talk politics (after just screaming politics at us), and 2: she “isn’t interested in alternative facts”
We don’t speak anymore. No sense to- she turns everything into an asinine liberal political statement and gets pissed when people easily contradict her
Clint Eastwood said “if you could talk reason to liberals, there wouldn’t be any liberals”
[[What happens when people go on vacation? How can they prevent squatters from breaking into their temporaily unoccupied homes?]]
Dep3nds I think on how long the owner is absent from the home. I think some states require squatters to be in the home more than 30 days-
I would think though that the homeowners could hire so eone to check on their home, meaning the timeliness could be expanded indefinitely, as the 30 days would keep being reset. If someone is in the home before the 30 days is up, and a neighbor checks on the home, sees them there, they cou,d call the cops and have them evicted because the squatters didn’t meet the states asinine squatters rules.
Unfortunately that’s probably correct
The decline is shocking
beat me to it!
in Florida, cops NOW have legal authority to immediately remove from any residence almost any adult who can’t show written proof of ownership or a written lease ... said removee can be trespassed so that if they return they WILL be arrested for trespass ...
What is all this “squatter’s rights”? There is “adverse possession” which usually takes about 20 continuous years of “possession”. Someone showing up in your house while you are away is trespassing.
in many states though- they have ‘rights’ given to them by the state, and the homeowner must go through a legal process to remove them-
“So at what point does a trespasser become a squatter and gain their rights as tenants?
It varies by state law, but as a general rule, if someone has overtly lived in the property for at least 30 days, they start counting as an unlawful tenant rather than a trespasser. It helps their case if they’ve opened utilities in their own name or listed the address on official accounts such as bank accounts.”

Taking ownership of a place is different though:
“Fortunately for property owners, it takes many years for squatters to take ownership through adverse possession. The exact number of years varies by state law, but typically falls between seven and twenty years. A few states even allow adverse possession in as little as five years.”
(from same site)
It sucks- big time- but legally, insanity rules and asinine states have determined that the homeowner can be arrested if they try to physically remove a trespasser if they have been there longer than 30 days
30 days in one case. When the homeowner tried to expel the squatters, the cops arrested the homeowner.
Exactly. Worst case is to leave it to a jury of your peers who wouldn’t want their homes STOLEN either. A good DA would choose to let it go.
If I were the CCP, this is the exact sort of content I’d want on my social media platform.
This is the future. Thank a dem for it!
Ms Kimber would object loudly to squatters.
MUST pay all property taxes/utilities, etc.
Must hAve DEED registered
WHY isn’t the DOJ arresting this man for his ILLEGAL ACTIONS??
The threat is not that they’ll own the property, it’s that they will claim tenancy and the authorities (police, court) will believe them. Call it adverse tenancy.
These days, an owner who has a vacant property without cameras, is a fool.
Unbelievable. Go to work in the morning and come home to squatters and be arrested. Be afraid to leave your home.
Well I for one am sending an email to congress using all caps!
That will fix it!
