A major California McDonald’s franchisee is speaking out against Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D-CA) new minimum wage law that will force fast food businesses to pay workers at least $20 per hour, saying menu items would become “unaffordable” if scaled to the increased wages.

Kerri Harper-Howie, a Los Angeles-based franchisee who owns 21 McDonald’s locations across the state with her sister, says her profits will tank while trying to keep up with the guidelines from the California Fast Food Council, which Newsom created in 2023.

"Kerri should close all 21 locations asap"

Then what would the people eat? Newsome will force them to stay open "for the common good"

('cause that's how Marxists roll)

The solution is so simple. Newsome just has to pass a law that every Californian must buy a $25 dollar Big Mac every week. Problem solved.

But Gavin gave his Panera Bread-owing buddy a carve-out so he didn’t have to pay the $20 minimum wage at his Panera Bread Stores.

Governor Newsom, like Inslee in Washington, is out to destroy the middle class. It’s a Marxist thing.

All they have to do is bake one loaf a bread a day and offer it for sale at some crazy high price.

McDonald’s is overpriced for what it is. At this point it is worth it to splurge for a few dollars more at an independent place where one can chase better burgers with beer.

If Newsome decides to run for President, Trump has a lot of ammunition to throw at this clown.

That loophole is useless. Who is going to work for Panera Bread if all of these its competitors are required to pay higher wages?

The CEO of Panera sounds almost as retarded as Gavin Newsom.

I’m old enough to remember change from a dollar for a burger, fries and a coke.

I watched an old movie a few nights ago. DIVORCE, AMERICAN STYLE from 1967. In it Dick Van Dyke goes into a MacDonalds and placed an order. “A double meat cheeseburger, fires and a coke.” That will be 57 cents please.”

You think that Poopin' Joe the Frontman might not make it to November?

That one of his patches upstairs might let go?

Let me remind everyone that it isn’t just the wages. All businesses have Liability and Workeres Comp Insrance, both of those are rated on your EMPLOYEE’S Pay. If your payroll cost go up 20%, you can count on your Work Comp and Liability on going up the same percentage or More. That $20 an hour actually COSTS the business Owner $30-$40 an hour and more.

On the infrequent times I get fast food, I’ve ordered/paid on the kiosks. Haven’t seen a cashier-staffed McD’s for a long time.

Some people don’t have those extra dollars.
