Nope.

Only one gun might have been used in a crime. The gun was reported as stolen and then was found in the position of someone who did an armed robbery.

All the rest were taken up while arresting people for other things, usually the terrible crime of having mary-ja-wana.

“Or maybe he was a good guy doing favors for people who wanted to practice their right of self defense without being on the Stazi’s little list of people to raid.”

He was filling orders for a convicted robber!

Yeah you should never try to help people to avoid being on government lists. You can end up in the gulags.

I have no idea. Maybe NPR is like Google and Twitter where we found they employed lots of spooks who try to influence and manipulate elections.

Especially those that are already on government lists!

Stolen? W-1 identified Malinowsky as his source.

Yeah, I don’t care enough about any random Memphis resident’s gun needs to have a 6am ATF wake-up. But, hey, you do you!

Best way to insure gun cases never get to higher court is to make sure the accused never makes it through the raid.

If the guy wasn’t wanted for something violent and had no history of violence there was no cause to go in with a swat team.
I don’t know, have not heard or followed reporting on this case. Did he have a violent history? Was he a suspect in a violent crime?
Selling guns to shady people is something our government does all the time. Heck, it gave tons of them to the Taliban.

Agreed — many oddities and contradictions in this.
The ATF affidavit is entirely credible, and Malinowski appears to be guilty of violating numerous laws without trying very hard to hide it. Did he not realize that the FFL handling his purchases had to keep a book of all their transactions, meaning ATF routine inspections would inevitably red flag him for buying in volume? Why would he ask buyers about their ages, and care about pistol-brace rules, yet flaunt that he didn’t do paperwork?

The guy either wanted to get caught, stubbornly refused to accept that gun laws are what they are, or somehow got off on leading a dual life of respected airport manager/illegal arms dealer. A person in charge of an international airport could get up to a LOT more dangerous and lucrative crimes. Why take huge risks and spend a lot of time for peanuts? (Maybe he had airport scams going that he didn’t get caught for...yet).

But they were felons, ie. prohibited persons.

The more I read this thread and think about it, the more I wonder what his FR screenname was. Probably something like "FrommycolddeadhandsSuperPatriot."

“I don’t doubt that - the question is why did he do it?”
*****************************************************

I didn’t read the warrant and just read that he bought and sold guns, presumably at gun shows. I don’t think that, in itself, is illegal. Maybe he “cut corners” on the legal paperwork.

As to why he did it… lots of guys have second part-time jobs or side small businesses to help support their family. Hell, when I was younger for a long time I worked a very early morning gig sorting packages for UPS before going to my regular job.
