SINGAPORE: The only way to end the war between Russia and Ukraine is through negotiations, but the outcome of these talks would largely depend on who is the next United States president, said Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó.
Mr Szijjártó, who was on a two-day visit to Singapore, believes how long the conflict drags on depends on the outcome of the US presidential election in November, where President Joe Biden and former president Donald Trump are set for a rematch.
Noting that Mr Trump represents “a totally different approach”, he said: “If there's a person nowadays in international politics who has the leverage, the charisma, the commitment to end this war, then it's him.

The USA and NATO gambled with Ukraine’s future, and lost big.
It seems likely Russian will be dictating the terms, whoever becomes President.
Russia isn’t dictating squat as long as they continue to flail around on the battlefield
Yeah, it’s either President Yellsatclouds or President Rainmaker.
Only one of them has suggested peace talks.
The capitulation lobby is the one that I hope he disappoints this time.
Now who can argue with that?
Either way this will end after the election. Trump will end it or Biden will throw Ukraine under the bus if reelected. Biden just can’t suffer another Afghanistan debacle before the election.
Only two possible answers exist. A) NATO and USa enter the fight and expel Russian forces—in WW III or B) Ukraine need to go to the peace table and work a deal. The US economy is weak and may fail. Then there will be no money for Ukraine. People, starving, in the dark, will not feel like giving to Brave Ukraine.
The Ukes have run out of men. They’ve lost ground and will be hard pressed not to lose a bunch more before the end of the year.
Time to send in NATO. Imperialistic tyrant Putin and his blood thirsty Orcs will not stop until they are stopped. Better to fight in Ukraine then allow them to invade and demolish another European country. Bring the war home to the Orcs like it was brought home to their fascist predecessors.
If Trump gets in, he is going to make a phone call to both Zelensky and Putin and let both of them know in no uncertain terms that if a ceasefire and a full realignment back to the lines before this war started isn’t enacted in the next 24 hours, the US is going to pull all funding for both countries as well as drive the price of oil and natural gas through the floor.
The war will end. What I would like to hear from both of them is who made money from this. Then indict everyone of them in the Hague and imprison them for the rest of their miserable lives.
If you feel that strongly about it, grab your rifle and go.
I am simply not willing to go to war over Ukraine with whom we have no treaty obligation.
I am so sick of this. I am a RUssian linguist and analyst for many years. It would take one Executive order and a week and it would ALL be over.
One executive order repealing all the anti-fuel orders Biden wrote, telling the fuel industry (pipelines, oil, gas, coal, natural gas) to produce as much as they want, and Russia would lose all their money. And Russia knows it.
Will President Trump turn off the Ukrainian money spigot?
I believe so.
