Are there significant degrees of RINO? Ones that vote mostly with Republicans and always on the most crucial things? I’m thinking of they type of Republucan needed to get elected in a purple leaning blue state and how Buckley used to say vote in the most conservative republican who can actually get elected in that district rather than lose to a Dem who will ALWAYS be worse and almost never vote with Republicans. Thoughts?
It’s an important question and point.

Good point regarding what’s possible in a Blue state, but I’m not sure the Romney half-measures dilemma served us well.
Looking passed the irrationally cathartic election of 2008, would we be better off today if we refused to elect the Romney, Ryan, McCarthy types in both the General and Midterm elections? That’s an impossible question to answer conversationally, but no doubt aggregates of the Congressional voting patterns since then might give a clue. I’d might consider looking into that if I had nothing more serious to do.
