Elderly Georgia homeowner forced out of his house, arrested after alleged fraudster claimed ownership: ‘Made us feel like squatters’

“It’s too easy to forge a deed and record it,” Real estate attorney Richard Alembik told WSB-TV. “It’s a big problem nowadays, because of the fact that e-filing, the e-recording of deeds is so easy. It’s very easy to record forged deeds.”

Alembik said notaries don’t check the identification of the people who submit the documents to verify if they are the rightful homeowners.

Victims of fraud who have proof to be the rightful homeowners can still be ordered by a judge to move out and pay fines, according to the outlet.

An elderly Georgia homeowner was forced out of his house and arrested when an alleged swindler used fraudulent documents to claim ownership of the property.

Charles and Charmaine Allman lived in the same Stone Mountain, Ga. home — located 16 miles east of Atlanta — for the last two decades before officials told the couple Tuesday that they no longer owned the house and had to vacate.

“They made us feel like we were squatters,” Charmaine Allman told WSB-TV. “Just tossed my stuff out like it was trash.”

Most of the couple’s belongings were scattered all over the yard.

The outlet reported that an anonymous man allegedly falsified a deed and submitted the documents online with Dekalb County to claim ownership of the Allman’s home.

Atlanta is a very anarchistic city. Antifa loves it there!

It’s so bad that Atlanta homeowners are afraid to go away on a family vacation. That squatters might move in. Hyperbole? But this is the way things are going. Atlanta is black run, with its government in a shambles. So they won’t come down on these house//home rip off artists.

Sue Dekalb County and Stone Mountain officials, individually and severally, for everything under the sun, including violating their 4th and 14th Amendment rights.

This is the next “reparations” for the blacks. I dare anyone to deny that this hasn’t been considered. Or it’s going to be “give it to the “newcomers”.

I registered our farm with My Land Alert that sends a notification to me if anything is attempted with my deed. I know it works because our County Mayor has the same name as my husband, and we are notified each time he does a QuitClaimDeed. The best part is that it’s a free service. Even our County Clerk uses it.

A fitting legacy from The Squatter-in-Chief.

In Bosnia (or perhaps one of the bordering nations) I remember reading that when the Muslims took over villages the first thing they did was burn all of the property records.

Then they could move into houses with impunity telling the former owners if they objected to prove ownership.

Biden has let in hundreds of thousands of people who have no money, no skills, no education, and no job prospects. They will not sit idly forever.

Squatting, shoplifting, petty and major crimes will all increase dramatically (it’s already started, of course). At this point, can even Trump turn it around?

Clearly, the state should be liable for damages.

Make sure the person selling the property or taking out a mortgage on the property is the rightful owner of the property.

You see, when all somebody has to do is forge a signature and nobody bothers to check, its very easy to commit fraud.

Say....I wonder if Georgia has had the exact same problem with mass mail in voting?

This kind of government bullsh*t is why keeping the Second Amendment intact. You can “easily” send thieves and squatters elsewhere. With each passing day, the Second Amendment as it is written becomes more important. If liberal communist scumbags will orchestrate the “mass killings” of school kids to build a case for the turd roller asses to confiscate America’s firearms there is no telling what else they’ll do.

Title insurance covers clean title at the time of purchase, not when somebody files a fraudulent title on your paid off home.

These scum artists don’t do this on homes that still have a bank lien on them, because then the scam doesn’t work.

They forge and file the paperwork for a new deed and then take out new mortgage which they don’t pay and the bank forecloses and evicts the true owners as squatters.

It takes a lot to sort out, often because elderly people disregard the forclosure paperwork because they know they didn’t take out a 2nd mortgage so it must be misdelivered mail, because title fraud doesn’t occur to them.

I don’t understand why the rightful homeowners don’t show up armed to the teeth and escort the squatters to the door with a barrel against their heads.

Then, if anyone shows up, claim nothing happened.

Almost makes me afraid to leave my home for any length of time...Have a three-day trip lined up next month.

I imagine what my Eastern European neighbors would do if this happened to them...

They’d show up with 16 of their closest cousins to ask the squatter to leave - if he didn’t, his body would never be found and no one would have seen a thing.

Same here. I won’t take any vacations until I can move into a secure senior living apartment.
