A barge took out a 1.5 mile section of a bridge in the wee hours of the AM near Baltimore. Multiple vehicles in the water. Many dead. Couple alive.

Francis Scott Key bridge. Dali name of ship.

Looks like DEI or other incompetents to me. Terrorism would be during rush hour, not lowest time of traffic.

Freudian Slip du Jour: “ My enema”.
Not quite as catchy as “My Sharonna’.

I think you might be confusing Admiralty Law with Maritime Law....

Admiralty and Maritime laws have more in common with each other than either is to Common Law.

The 3 main divisions of law are law of the water, law of the land and law of the air (ecclesiastical law).

From the below link, "admiralty and maritime law are largely considered the same thing, and the terms are used interchangeably."

The primary difference between admiralty law and maritime law is their origin. Admiralty law was developed in England and was meant to cover trade and commerce issues on the high seas. Maritime law was later developed to protect workers and seamen injured on the high seas. Today, admiralty and maritime law are largely considered the same thing, and the terms are used interchangeably. Even so, there are other important distinctions. Admiralty law often covers procedure and jurisdiction, while maritime law encompasses a lot of substantive laws. These laws are federal in nature and tend to cover accidents, injuries, or disputes at sea. Injuries on cruise ships and other commercial vessels are common in maritime and admiralty law.

One report mentioned a Pilot was in control of the ship. Don’t know whether they would have worked for the Port, for the state or perhaps for the Feds, but that may well affect who pays for the casualties, the costs of clearing the channel to reopen the port, and building a new bridge. I’d wonder whether Pilot was a DEI hire. Local justice system likely searching for a way to blame, and bill, Trump for it.

Did you see the video?
The ship lost power.
Twice.
While attempting a tight turn.
Don’t matter who the pilot is.
After the first loss of power, the ship was doomed.

Someone in conference said authorities had a mayday and actually had closed traffic onto the bridge. Didn’t appear to have time after it lost power to me. What’s going on with shipping, a great industry site release this video and his thoughts. Worth following this guy, he knows what he’s talking about.

Thanks. I knew that “collision” as generally used refers to contact between objects that are both in motion, but I hadn’t ever run across the word “allision”. Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary doesn’t have a definition, but the Oxford English Dictionary lists “allision” as an obsolete word and defines it as “The action of dashing against or striking with violence upon” which at least implies that one of the objects is stationary.

This is a much bigger event the government/media is letting on to. The port of Baltimore is closed for along time. That bridge or tunnel replacement will cost billions not to mention damages, possibly causing insurers to go bankrupt rather than pay. Guess who pays then.

Ship is supposed to always have power and supposed to have a maintenance regimen designed to ensure that. Who’s responsible for ensuring that I’m not certain, but I bet in this case (unlike the current White House) the Buck Stops Somewhere. And I wouldn’t like to be there today.

Too bad Senator Arlen Specter is in hell, otherwise he could invoke Scottish Law.

Since the captain went down with the Titanic, maybe the whole thing can be blamed on the skipper of the Ever Given, or the Exxon Valdez. ;^) :^D

Same ship crashed into a different bridge in 2016, and after that crash its registration was changed from Marshall Islands to Singapore:

What if you found out that he was an ethnic Russian from Donetsk City who voted for Putin and whose mother was killed in the shelling. What if he had a Ukrainian passport issued four years ago? Would his story be relevant then? I just want to know what he says happened.
