Putin says he won't start a war with NATO but Western bases hosting Ukraine F-16s would be targets

Russian President Vladimir Putin scoffed at the possibility of his country launching an attack on a NATO member, calling it “sheer nonsense,” but warned that any Western air base hosting U.S.-made F-16 fighter jets that are slated for deployment in Ukraine would be a “legitimate target” for the Kremlin’s forces.

“Their statements about our alleged intention to attack Europe after Ukraine is sheer nonsense,” Putin said late Wednesday, referring to warnings in the U.S. and Western Europe that Russia could turn its sights on other countries unless it is stopped.

He noted that the U.S. defense budget is more than 10 times higher than Russia’s. “In view of that, are we going to wage a war against NATO? It’s ravings,” he told military pilots during a visit to an air base.

The F-16s require a high standard of runways and reinforced hangars to protect them from bombing attacks when they are on the ground. It is not clear how many Ukrainian air bases can meet those requirements, and Russia would be certain to quickly target a few that could accommodate them once the jets arrive.

and you are an excellent soldier for this effort, tlozo.

There is no reason to worry, if he says there will be a war against the West he surely won't do it; What happens is that he believes that he has the world scared with his hypersonic rockets.

The real Jan Sobieski would have cut your head off for betraying Poland to the Russians.

Thank you for confirming my original statement F-16s will do absolutely nothing for Ukraine, even if some manage to make it there.

Right, because modern western jets(F16) are no different than Ukraine's old Mig's. Okay

The MiG-29's radar possesses a significantly shorter range compared to that of the F-16, and its missiles require full guidance from the launching aircraft. Russian aircraft can spot Ukraine’s MiG-29s much further away than the Ukrainians can spot Russian aircraft. The more powerful F-16 radars will reduce the radar disadvantage

F16(top) Fire and Forget vs Ukraine Mig(lower)

Why do you suppose Putin didn’t take ALL of Georgia in 2008?

delta7: "They will go the way of all the other western wonder weapons have gone- up in flames….M1’s, Leopard’s, Bradley’s, M113’s, Strykers, Patriots, etc…as we have witnessed time and time again."

Russians have claimed they destroyed something related to a US Patriot air defense system in Ukraine, though no independent source has confirmed that.
If one of over a dozen Patriot missile launchers were damaged, that would not necessarily reduce the system's overall effectiveness.

Of 31 M1 Abrams tanks sent to Ukraine, three are reported as lost, though their crews likely survived.

Of Ukraine's roughly 200 M2 Bradley IFVs, about 20 have been lost, while also protecting their crews.

Of Ukraine's 18 German Leopard tanks, Russia claimed it destroyed several and that others are not fit for service.
Some of these claims have been debunked and none have been confirmed.
It's widely thought that German engineered tanks require a higher degree of technical and maintenance proficiency than most Russian tanks.

By contrast, Russian tank losses are estimated as nearly 7,000 with another 13,000 armored vehicles destroyed.
And due to the "jack in the box" nature of most Russian tank designs, those crews did not all survive.

The military industrial complex and deep state warmongers are assuming that Russia will follow their rules of engagement like the US did in Vietnam where known: bases, SAM’s sites, airfields etc... that were attacking US forces and killing our GI’s were off limits because of political issues.

Trouble is Ivan may not play the game the way the warmongers expect. I have no love for Putin or Ivan, but neither do I care about the corrupt crap hole that is the Ukraine either. But the MIC, deep state, RINO’s and Democrats are determined to embroil the US military in yet another war where there are no US strategic interests. Mongers are going to monger to keep the $ flowing...

Ukraine received 31 Abrams tanks, while about 3,700 Abrams machines of the earliest modifications are aging in long-term storage sites and are unlikely to ever be used.

Is this the equivalent of Germany warning the US and Britain, that ships carrying arms, troops or explosives, will be targeted and sank. Up comes the Lusitania, the US claims it was a passenger ship only, and WW 1 begins for America, and WW 2 follows as the US begins its earnest quest to be an Empire.

Will the American Empire die with a similar trigger? When you supply arms, money and pay the salaries of soldiers in a country, YOU ARE AT WAR with that foe. Sorry, WW 3 has long past the beginning, we are about to enter the long bloody middle.

Russia, is holding back, waiting for a peaceful settlement between honest partners. They have not been targetting the Western cities of Ukraine, because they are concentrating on getting the parts of their own country back.

WE ARE THE BAD GUYS in this. Hard to believe, but since when were we the good guys? I am not talking about the grunts, but our leaders are pure D-Evil.

That’ll work out well. Maybe the US should push for a settlement. We are headed for full on war otherwise. Or we can read the brilliant musings of MeganC.

PGR88 to Monterrosa-24: "“Bolshevik Pigs”
“Bolshevik faggots”
“boy kisser Pedophile Putin”

Are you off the aripiprazole today?
Remember what the doctor told you...."

A couple of items worth noticing here.

  1. The word "Bolshevik" is a historical term applied to "Putin's Brain", Russkiy Mir, Fourth Political Theory and neo-Eurasianism philosopher, Alexander Dugin.
In 1993 Dugin co-founded Russia's National Bolshevik Party, "advocating a blend of communist ideals and etatist ambitions, reminiscent of tsarist Great Power traditions".

  2. Dugin has since moved on and now claims to be no longer a communist.
However, he still advocates state control over and direction of economic affairs on a level that to the outside observer seems almost indistinguishable from actual communism.

  3. Putin's views differ from Dugin's in being more practical and pragmatic, but to the casual observer are indistinguishable.
Russia's economy today is roughly 50% state-owned or controlled, with heavy government influences over another 25%, especially in Russia's:

    • Defense industry
    • Energy
    • Banking
    • Transportation
    • Health care

  4. The accusation of "boy kisser Pedophile Putin" originated with ex-KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko, in 2006, for which the FSB poisoned and killed him with polonium-210.

  5. "Bolshevik faggots" may refer to the idea that historically, the Old Bolsheviks did decriminalize homosexuality in circa 1918.
Old Uncle Joe Stalin recriminalized homosexuality in 1933.
However, in the 1930s purges of Old Bolsheviks, Stalin did not use homosexuality as an accusation against them -- at least not that I can find.
Putin and "Putin's Brain", Dugin:

Do you know what happened in WW 2 when the Allies began a bombing campaign against Germany? Nothing, there was nothing Germans could do to damage plants that build planes in America. Those things are no longer true. In short order, Russian can neutralize America quite easily. While we wait for the Military of the US and our demented President to find the button, look for the code books, and get the JCOS out of the DIE seminar to respond, they are gone from the Earth. BOOM...

No doubt you are correct. It is time to move away from military bases, and other targets. We who do not, will regret it. War without limits, has no safe place.
