Electric-vehicle startup Fisker said on Wednesday it was cutting the prices of its 2023 electric Ocean SUV model, signaling an attempt by the cash-strapped firm to drum up demand and ease concerns regarding its uncertain future.
The company slashed the price tag of the entry level version - Ocean Sport - by around 36%, or $14,000, bringing it down to $24,999 from $38,999 earlier.
The company said it will reduce the price of the top-end version of the vehicle, called "Extreme", by around 39%, or $24,000, to $37,499.
Fisker also cut the price of its Ocean Ultra version to $34,999 from $52,999.
Fisker delivered about 1,300 vehicles in 2024 and the value of the inventory of completed vehicles was more than $200 million, according to the company.
The price cuts come a few days after Fisker's talks with a large automaker about a deal collapsed, sending the company's shares plunging and prompting the New York Stock Exchange to delist the stock.
The price cuts signal an attempt by Fisker to raise more funds to meet its required debt obligations, as the company faces a potential default.
The termination of talks with the unnamed automaker has led Fisker to explore strategic options including in- or out-of-court restructurings and capital markets transactions, the startup said earlier.
Last week, the company said it would pause production of its electric vehicles for six weeks and raise up to $150 million in funding by selling convertible notes after missing an interest payment.
The Fisker Ocean competes with Tesla's Model Y SUV, and a growing crowd of mid-size electric SUVs such as the Ford Mustang Mach-E.

Once China gets its EV plants up and running in Mexico, you can say goodbye to most, if not all of America’s EV manufacturers. Couple this fact with Manchurian Joe’s EV mandate and we see the destruction of yet another US industry and the further subjugation of the American people.
Does it float?
OK... I have to laugh at the idea that Fisker of all people would name one of their models the “Ocean”. I still remember what killed them off the first time they declared bankruptcy. It was the ocean. Specifically, it was hurricane Sandy’s storm surge washing water into a shore-side parking lot full of Fisker Karma’s. When the storm was over all that was left were a bunch of burnt-out, half-melted shells. Apparently sea water and EV batteries don’t mix...
Geez, who wants one of these things.
In the west, we drive long distances to get anywhere - it is NOT convenient for us to either stop for a long period of time while the car charges, or worse (as family with EVs say) pull up and all of the charges are “out of commission?”
If people don’t want EVs, stop voting for Dem politicians (like Gavin Newsom) who are pushing them.
A hurricane hit south Florida last year and many EVs that got flooded caught fire.
The media tried to ignore it but there were so many they couldn’t.
So much so even ABC had to talk about it.

Who is going to do the bleeding and what companies are going to left standing at the end really depends upon if Trump gets elected in November . If Biden wins, US automakers are toast. Don't expect any relief from Washington if Trump loses because Washington is bought and paid for by the Chinese CCP.
FISKER is barely alive—
WHY would I buy a car I cannot get service or parts for within months???
Is this the same Fisker that sells good-quality scissors and garden tools?
Fisker should have stuck with making garden tools.
Right. “We’re going belly-up. Buy our car!”
I live in the NY Metro area. A place where EV’s could make sense provided you can find a charging facility or home charge. I see many electrics on the road, mostly Tesla’s followed by big manufacture’s EV’s, followed by Rivian, followed by Polestar. I can say I have never seen a Fisker on the road, in fact I wasn’t even aware that they were actually delivering any vehicles.
BTW I am not in the market for an EV and may never be due to price and range concerns. I don’t think they are a total waste and may be good for some consumers. What I don’t want is the government either picking winners or forcing them on us.
From what I do know about Fisker, they should have been out of the business several times over.
Fisker CFO to the CEO, “Sir, we’re losing our ass on each one of these things.” CEO, “No problem, we’ll make it up on volume”
People are no more interested in an ELECTRIC vehicle then they were owning, back in the day, a 6 pound cellphone that was as BIG as a military Walkie Talkie!
I don’t want to stop to charge up and become a victim of white haters.
For electrical vehicles to become accepted, like gas cars, they need to adapt a one size fits all power module. A module that you can pay for and swap out in the same time or less it takes to gas up now.
And let me take this opportunity to thank all aspects of the oil industry... you’re the most efficient business EVER. We owe you a debt of gratitude.
I wonder how much a broken down delorean is worth today?
