Yep. I worked in a fast food restaurant at 15 - still have the scars on my hand - my best friend worked at the car wash across the street, as did a lot of our high school friends. We wouldn’t be hired now, those jobs go to adult Hispanics. I also worked in a laundry as a teen, very hard work! - doing “jobs Americans won’t do.” I wanted money so my dad said to “go out and get a job!” which I promptly did and didn’t stop working until I retired.
And yes, most of the work “Americans won’t do” is sloppy. The city hired a Hispanic tree cutting crew to cut back the trees on the median on our street several years ago - all of them either died or are badly misshapen now. My landscaper (an old White Guy) told me the trees were cut back wrong and most will likely die in the next few years. Mine look terrible.
When someone hired their first illegal on a crew or in the restaurant that illegal then tried to fill every new spot that would come up with their buddies that they lived with and drank with, and since they were usually older and men who were somewhat menacing and mysterious foreigners to the younger Americans who were cold-shouldered, the workplace became hostile to the Americans who quit in time, eventually that work crew or job would join the list of “jobs Americans won’t do”.
