GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Safety is front of mind for Green Bay police officers and other city staff; as former president Donald Trump comes to Green Bay on Tuesday.
Trump is hosting a campaign rally on Tuesday, April 2 at 5 p.m. at the KI Convention Center inside the Hyatt Regency. It’s the same day at Wisconsin’s presidential primary election.
Kevin Warych, Green Bay Police Department Commander, says they train for large-scale events all throughout the year.
“Tuesday’s event is something that we plan for 365 days a year,” said Warych. “It really just highlights the importance of coordination, teamwork, and working collaboratively amongst the entire city.”
Warych says weather the event is political or not; they handle all large scale events the same.
“It’s the same regardless of what type of event it is. We do this 10 times a year in the NFL season, and that’s a large scale event with multiple people,” said Warych. “This event is the same; it’s a large scale event with multiple people.”
Trump’s rally Tuesday will be the first time in nearly two years he’s campaigned in Wisconsin. In August 2022, Trump visited Waukesha in support of governor candidate Tim Michels.
