Rep. Greg Landsman (D-Ohio) brushed off accusations that progressives are influencing President Biden’s border policy on Sunday, describing the president as “very independent” on the issue.
The concerns were raised after Biden appeared to back off promises to use executive action to close the border, following mass criticism from progressives. The left wing of the Democratic Party has been critical of the president over his willingness to embrace hard-line immigration policy, which they argue is reminiscent of former President Trump.

At a dinner party last night, a friend was discussing getting his Vietnamese fiancé to the USA legally. It will take her 17 months to be admitted. Everybody joked about sending her to Mexico and having her walk in.

Biden is only “independent” in that he is so detached from the reality in his immediate vicinity, he cannot or will not incorporate those realities into whatever power of decision he has remaining. All these choices are made by someone unelected and unresponsive to public opinion, without accountability or even attribution.

Biden’s immigration policy: letting illegals stay in the country for 5-7 years with no hearing or deportation, welding the gates in the wall open, selling off the wall construction materials, suing Texas for enforcing the law, and flying illegals directly into the country..
Trump’s: Build the wall, deport as many as possible, stay in mexico policy. Use one of the 20 counsulates or 1 embassy in Mexico to apply for asylum.
