Well, I was on the right track. My initial thought was a group fart was released. How does what actually happened, even happen? Everyone must have waited until they boarded the plane and had ascended into the clouds.
That, or the toilet had an ongoing problem that SFO maintenance should have fixed before the plane left SFO. Plane was returning after a round trip.
