U.S. Senate contest would be closely contested between Hogan and Trone or Alsobrooks...

TOPICS: Politics/Elections; US: Maryland
KEYWORDS: hogan; maryland; trone
March 19-24, N=800. Hogan +1 versus Trone; Hogan +3 versus Alsobrooks. Two other recent polls show Hogan doing well. So, this race really is shaping up as competitive. Maryland is a deep blue state. We can suspect that once the Democrats choose their candidate, many currently undecided voters will rally around that party's nominee. Plus, in recent years, the Ds have had enormous advantages in money and other resources. But, here's the thing, that they will have to invest some of their resources in Maryland means they'll have less for the battleground states. Plus, who knows, maybe a true moderate like Hogan can be effective in the Senate where you need 60 votes to overcome a filibuster; being that every Democrat in the Senate (except Manchin on energy votes) is a party-line hack.

I know someone like Larry Hogan is too liberal for us on Free Republic.

But remember this is a liberal state , and he’s probably the only kind of Republican that can get elected in such a liberal State as Maryland.

If he hadn’t knifed we conservatives who voted for him in the back and twisted every chance he go, maybe we’d like him a little more.

If he hadn’t gone full tyrant and expected us to follow his unconstitutional mandates and lockdowns, maybe we’d like him more.

Personally I’m following his lead. In the primary I’m writing in Ronald Reagan. That’s what he did is the 2020 election.

I have liberal friends in Maryland. They thought Hogan did a great job when he was Governor.

*They thought Hogan did a great job when he was Governor.*

He’ll be even better in the senate where the seats are more important. I’d hate to think of him having Mancin’s power. We’ll need 53+
