CHICAGO (WLS) -- On Tuesday, the Chicago Health Department confirmed there are some cases of tuberculosis among migrants newly arrived in the city.
They are not saying exactly how many cases there are, but did say it's a "small number."
The city pointed out that many residents of Central America and South America have latent TB infections, which means they can't pass the virus, but it does cause a positive test result.
The health department said it is taking steps to keep these infections contained.

TB in this country had been almost eradicated by mass testing and rigorous follow up on any detected cases. However, outbreaks have occurred typically from immigrants who slipped through testing. For example there was a breakout at a Minnesota university traced to a single African student who had failed to get a required TB test. Everyone who had frequent contact with him had to undergo a year of anti TB drugs.
An outbreak of TB in this illegal population would be a nightmare as people who came in close contact and become infected could have been shipped all over the country by the Biden administration.

Yes. Found this out before I retired - no TB test required to enroll in the school district I was working in.
The reason given was if the school district mandates the test, they are required to pay for it - and as we all know, billions upon billions are helicoptered into public schools - but there is “never any money.”
On a side note, the test was also decommissioned for teachers - I had to have a TB test every five years (I’m sure I’ve been exposed) - my health care provider (Kaiser) told me they no longer give the test, all they did is ask me if I’d been out of the country or exposed to TB in anyway - and signed off on the card.
A dear friend who is a nurse practitioner told me that the TB test has been linked to gut cancers and that’s why it was discontinued amoung nurses who were mandated to test every year.
I wonder if the Chicago Health Department checks for leprosy or the various parasites common in the 3rd world. Probably not.
I remember after the Gulf War, 12 months later, I was transferring to Germany, and TB test came up....positive. Got it in Saudi Arabia.
It's worth it because the Democrats will have permanent rule now.
It used to be all immigrants had to undergo a tuberculosis test before being admitted to the U.S. I guess they don’t require that anymore.

This is species-ism. Why favor one strain of microbe and attempt to eradicate another. Pro-biotics aid human digestion, Tuberculosis kills humans. But they all look the same until you bring a human microscope into it. All microbes deserve a right to flourish in their human hosts. Everything is not about them./s
Now just a cotton pickin’ minit here. Let’s be fair. They’re not stopping native born Americans from voting just by killing them with dread diseases. They’ll still vote, only their choice of voting Democrat will be assured, since they’ll be dead. So it’s all good.
