Seattle Public Schools shuts down gifted and talented program for being oversaturated with white and Asian students

Seattle Public Schools is dismantling its gifted and talented program, which administrators argued was oversaturated with white and Asian students, in favor of a more “inclusive, equitable and culturally sensitive” program.

The district began phasing out its Highly Capable Cohort schools and classrooms for advanced students in the 2021-22 school year due to racial inequities, the school district notes.

The program will completely cease to exist by the 2027-28 school year, with a new enrichment-for-all model available in every school by the 2024-25 school year.

“The program is not going away, it’s getting better,” school officials said on the district website.

“The program is not going away, it’s getting better,” school officials lied through their rotten stinking teeth.

It's just not fair that the "gifted and talented" program of the Seattle Public School system reward only those people who are "gifted and talented."

Everyone should get a "gifted and talented" award just for going to school.

Hey, while we're at it, can we get a round of applause for the parents who drive their kids to school each day. They deserve a "gifted and talented" award too.

There are certainly gifted and talented Black students, but they are probably afraid to participate due to peer pressure that would accuse them of acting white.

A retired AP teacher, providing “homeschool” type teaching for a small class of 6-8 gifted/talented students would make a killing.

I was in the GT program in elementary school. We started out with full on teachers in 1st grade and over time, we were put in the corners with our schoolbooks to ‘learn on our own’ while the teachers focused on the remedial (all minority) students who basically knew only colors and numbers in the 4th grade.

By the 5th grade, I was at the level of my classmates. In 1st grade, I was reading at a 7th grade level.

Leveling the playing field. Typical dem BS. Instead of raising everyone, they tear everyone down to their lowest common denominator.

Leftism brings everyone DOWN to the lowest common denominator, like unions.

They must destroy anything that can’t be made “equitable” no matter how much it helps those groups involved.

The new program will include all and it will be so watered down it will become meaningless.

In the fourth grade our teacher started the year giving the whole class a math test. From that, and over time, you separated us into different groups, with some who were doing better getting harder work and working more on our own, while she spent more time with those who needed more instruction.

The only dissappointed was our fifth and sixth grade teachers did not continue that method, but some of us in fourth grade ended the year doing math we would not have gotten into till sixth grade. In a sixth grade all state exam I scored 9th grade 7 months on the math portion. I knew I owed that to my 4th grade teacher.

There are proportionately fewer black “gifted and talented” students than there are White and Asian “gifted and talented” students. The White hating black racists just can’t stand it ... it wrecks their worldview ... so they screech and holler and try to tear Whites down to their level.

I went to grade school before gifted programs existed but I was reading at a 4th grade level in 1st grade. By 2nd grade they couldn’t figure out what to do with me so they just put me in with the “advanced”2nd grade reading group who were still reading the 2nd grade reader I had read the previous year.

"It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grammes a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be REDUCED to twenty grammes a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it."

Another delusion. The one that says that all people are equal in ability and so the outcomes must come out equal.

It’s too much to expect them to accept reality. The reality that says that some people are smart, others dumb. Some work hard, others sloth around blaming the smart ones for their failure while giving them the finger.

Translation: We elitists can’t have a program where gifted whiteys are rewarded for their scholastic achievements and higher level of intelligence any more. That would be another ‘threat to our democracy’. So we will proceed (continue) to level the playing field and make it easier and better for lazy, unmotivated and unintelligent students, who have achieved nothing and don’t even want to achieve anything, to reap our glorious, albeit illogical, socialist rewards. It’s only fair.

The talented students will leave for private school and the overall testing scores of the school will drop. Then the union will demand more taxpayer money.

It works every time.
