A good, sound position that's likely to be acceptable to more people than any other position. There is just no way that suburban women who have daughters who might get pregnant out of wedlock are going to let go of the option of abortion. Also, as the Supreme Court has finally decided, the Constitution just doesn't give the federal government the right to intervene in these decisions; it's something that's been left to the states.

That’s the way it’s supposed to be. The End

Any mention of abortion brings the AWFLs out in full force. When they hear the mere mention of abortion, there is no discussion, reflexively its: Democrat = good, Republican = bad.

YES, YES, YES. Agree 100%.
To: libstripper
Polling has shown that only 13% of people think abortion should be illegal under all circumstances.
51% believe it should be legal under some circumstances, and 34% believe it should be legal under all circumstances.
I know this is a passionate topic on FR, but from a strictly political perspective it is a losing topic to push for all bans on abortion under any circumstances.

It’s like saying that states should make the decision on slavery

It's the right position to take...based on the Constitution and States Rights.
Biden again disagrees with the USSC and every state which does NOT allow abortion.
At one time, every state held that abortion was illegal.

President Trump got it right......

<><>that’s already been left to the states.

As much as I’d like a total ban the entire country is simply too far gone morally to ever vote for that . Keeping it a states issue is the best we can do until the entire culture turns around

They did. New York didn’t abolish slavery until 1827. Many people had come to from Free States years earlier.
To: albie
Using that logic we’d still have slavery.
But I don’t care at the moment.
Until we restore the republic, every other issue is moot.

“It’s like saying that states should make the decision on slavery”
And that was the law until the 13th amendment was passed specifically prohibiting slavery.
To: Yo-Yo
Given that the MSM is now the Dem's PR firm, the abortion issue, whether argued at the federal or state level, will always favor the Dems.
There is all manner of discussion about what constitutes a "natural born citizen" which is defined at the federal level, as it should. That we can't define "human being" or "human person" at the federal level as well seems like a gross injustice.

The 13th amendment has entered the conversation.

A wise position. And the constitutional one.
