I had a rude awaking 45 years ago, and not long after my neighbor suggested that I join the GOP. At the time, I was young and an Independent. He was a good man. A civil servant with an engineer’s mindset. He brought me along with his canvasing commitments. I recall few people were ever home... lol
Months later, a noticed a pattern at the local GOP galas. It wasn’t the locally elected leaders that were leading. It was in fact developers that ultimately orchestrated how the local GOP members were going to conduct themselves. They were forceful and demanding — in polite terms, it was agitating. Needless to say, I cut off my involvement. If it wasn’t for Reagan, I would have returned to being an Independent.
The GOP hierarchy is totally corrupt, and it’s been so for decades. And that’s who’s electing the GOP a-holes to Congress. The promising candidates are often suppressed. Just review the turnout in your local precincts when the RINO incumbent is being challenged.
You caught on early and at a young age. Many people may never notice. They read about situations, but perhaps not see how they are personally effected. . When these candidates first run, they probably have great intentions. I wonder what is the breaking point for them when they decide they will become sell outs. Like Mike Johnson. Wth happen with him?
