Ron DeSantis Announces Massive Crackdown on Retail Theft, Slams California and New York While Doing So

Florida is taking a strong stand against retail theft and “porch piracy.” Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday signed into law a bill that would crack down on criminals participating in shoplifting rings and engaging in other types of property crime. While doing so, he took some shots at California and New York for going easy on those committing these offenses.

Amid widespread retail theft occurring across the nation, state and local governments are grappling with putting a stop to these operations while others are simply responding with a shrug. In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, DeSantis announced the signing of the bill, that would “increase penalties for retail theft, porch piracy, and using social media to incite looting” while pointing out that “many leftist jurisdictions are enacting policies that ignore retail theft or even encourage it.”

Today I signed HB 549, which will increase penalties for retail theft, porch piracy, and using social media to incite looting.

During a press conference held on the same day, DeSantis railed against California and New York’s policies.

He’s big on law and order!

Except when it comes to rigged elections, weaponization of fed government, mass censorship and J6 Floridians rotting in the gulag.

But when it comes to stopping porch pirates-he’s the man!

He is a good governor. But he shouldn’t have run for 2024. Major mistake.

DeSantis ha always done a great job, and is the best conservative politician in America, by far.

He was just unfairly smeared as “a globalist” by Trump surrogates, who falsely claimed he had big globalist money backing him, which was never, ever true.

The big globalist money never actually liked DeSantis, because his policies such as his taking down of Disney/DEI/LGBTQ are completely anti-globalist.

The big globalist money was always behind Haley and Trump, not DeSantis. He was the one actually running his campaign on small money donations, as all the financial statements showed.

But the lie was believed.

Exactly,

90% of industry/institution/billionasires are colluding and conspiring against MAGA but Trump is excluded.

DeSantis blew $500,000,000 in a primary over three years ago from small donors.

Maybe we need some more debates so Ron can ignore the issues most pertinent to MAGA on national TV for the ninth time?

You mean, stores will actually be able to turn a decent profit so they can offer more goods at cheaper prices?
How utterly capitalist of you Ron.

Ken Griffin

Stephen Ross

Bernie Marcus

Steve Wynn

Devos

Koch

John Tudor Jones

Ron Lauder

42 billionaires-grass roots support.

Just see the financials!!!

Who is the target audience of the obvious misinformation?

It’s far too dim to be a big lie.

Your list is fraudulent. Some of them donated to DeSantis for Governor, but after they saw how he governed, they didn’t support him for President.

Look at the very first person you mentioned, Ken Griffin. Read this for the facts:

Ken Griffin questions Ron DeSantis’ strategy as megadonor sits on sidelines of 2024 GOP race

https://floridapolitics.com/archives/635132-ken-griffin-questions-ron-desantis-strategy-as-griffin-sits-out-2024-gop-race/

The Koch family you say? Supported Haley:

Koch Network Endorses Nikki Haley

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/28/us/politics/koch-network-nikki-haley-endorsement-trump.html

Bernie Marcus? Has donated millions to Trump, peanuts to DeSantis:

Home Depot’s 93-year-old cofounder has donated $64 million to elect Trump

https://www.businessinsider.com/home-depot-cofounder-nobody-works-donated-64-million-gop-trump-2022-12?op=1

Steve Wynn? Gave millions to Trump in the past, peanuts to DeSantis. Wynn just gave Trump millions again just last week:

https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-fundraiser-charges-couples-1-million-1887118

Trump is clearly the one in cahoots with these globalist billionaires, not DeSantis. You’re probably long beyond ever accepting the truth though.

He is doing the right things, and has a willing state house and senate.

Things are a whole lot different in DC.

As dragnet2 pointed out yesterday on a different thread, DeSantis is all in for the high-profile issues and for touting legislation that has minimal effect, such as the recent “squatter” law. What DeSantis doesn’t tell you is that Florida has always had laws against “squatting”. Unlike New York, we’ve never passed the kind of insane legislation that their residents are now having to grapple with.

Same with this latest law. The rampant looting we’ve seen in California and other deep-blue states hasn’t been an issue here. We already have strong laws on that sort of thing. DeSantis is a self-promoting showman who’s more concerned with optics than policy.
