Sunak Completely Kills Off Gay Conversion Therapy Ban
Gudio Fawkes ^ | April 10 | Guido Fawkes

Guido understands that the conversion therapy ban has finally been killed off. The government committed to a draft bill for pre-legislative scrutiny last January, though now it will not be put forward a Joint Committee, cutting it off at the first stage. Banning conversion therapy for gay and trans people has been kicked down the road since 2018, and now Rishi has let it die…

Like most things, it’s an issue that polarises the Tories, and it seems that Sunak doesn’t want the backlash from the Tory right if he were to go ahead with the ban. MPs raised their concerns with the bill in Autumn, worried that it could lead teachers and parents facing criminal sanctions if they advise children against changing their gender. Guido hears Sunak met with Equalities Minister Kemi Badenoch over Easter to tell her the bill has been killed.

Our government converts straight kids to be gay through the public schools and tax paid for councilors. Outlawing “gay conversion “ is as attack on faith and religion…it’s unconstitutional.

ABSOLUTELY, or schools would have been flooded with queers back when we went there, as they are now.

A better term, instead of ‘conversion’, is ‘de-programming’.

A lot of it is the pain kids feel through broken marriages.

They end up going to therapy, and connect with other kids like them. The kids thinking being gay is cool, because of the privileges that come with it (being able to say you were discriminated against every time you’re bullied, etc.) and the therapists validate it.

Thus, they become gay without ever having a sexual experience.

This is the problem. By conflating religion with therapy you open yourselves up to attack. There is a reasonably effective conversion therapy approach which has nothing to do with religion, but which has been stifled through the misuse of religious faith as a therapeutic tool. When you appear to be coercing a certain take on faith under the guise of therapy you ignite the opposition, and it becomes self defeating.

I agree that counseling from a religious perspective ignites opposition. I disagree that secular psychology or psychiatry are more effective than true biblical counseling. (I would add that much of what passes as biblical counseling is really secular psychology with some religious terminology thrown in, which makes it the worst of both worlds.)

But secular psychology starts from and incorrect worldview (we're all basically good and solutions to our problems are found within) which leads to counterproductive solutions. It ignores and/or denies the existence of the true problem - the natural propensity to sin, so it never deals with the real issue.

“Conversion therapy” done voluntarily MUST be legal. If it can’t be legal, then nothing in the professional practices of psychiatry or psychology can be legal if it is to help convince someone a problematic behavior they have is wrong.

Crispy Kreme Chris Christie was the first governor to ban therapy for same-sex attraction in this country, even among children who may have been subjected to sex abuse.

I hope the lasting legacy of this decision of his goes as well as his presidential ambitions.

Or call it what it actually is: "Reparative." Repairing broken sexuality.
