[Governor] Little signs bill to ban compelled pronoun use (Idaho)

Idaho school districts soon will have to remove any requirements that teachers use transgender students’ preferred pronouns.

Gov. Brad Little quietly signed House Bill 538 on Monday. The legislation, sponsored by Rep. Ted Hill, R-Eagle, broadly enacts protections for public employees, including teachers, who are unwilling to use someone’s preferred name and pronouns. It had overwhelming support among Statehouse Republicans.

The bill bars teachers from referring to a student by a name or pronoun that doesn’t align with their birth sex, unless the teacher has parental consent. It also gives teachers the right to sue their district if they’re disciplined for refusing to use a transgender student’s preferred name or pronoun.

The new law takes effect July 1 impacts students and public employees who are transgender but also others who don’t identify with a traditional male-female binary.

The Idaho Family Policy Center, a Christian lobbying group, praised Little for signing the bill that shields teachers from “adverse employment action” for using “biologically correct pronouns.”

“Even in school districts with no written compelled pronoun policy, educators feel pressure from administrators, parents and students to use preferred pronouns,” Blaine Conzatti, president of the group, said in a news release, “and these teachers rightly fear what might happen if they continue disregarding such demands.”

The American Civil Liberties Union of Idaho lobbied against the bill in recent months, arguing that it would allow teachers to “persistently and intentionally” misgender certain students and it could violate anti-discrimination law.

Another bit of good news about push-back on the trans lunacy. Idaho is in the sights of the DOJ for its abortion law and now the DOJ will set their sights on this law, too. The Brandon Mafia needs to destroy all opposition.

I guess this is good. But ... we already have Freedom of Speech written into the Constitution ... what does this state law add, really?

The leftist, commie, prog liberals are putting COMPELLED speech into effect by “anti discrimination” law. This rejects compelled speech and protects people who could be sued under those compelled speech “disability” rules.

Good. It should be perfectly legal, normal, and unapproachable to refer to a person by their birth sex, require people to use the corresponding restroom, and compete in their birth sex.

It keeps an activist judge from putting crap into common law by his or her rulings.

“The bill bars teachers from referring to a student by a name or pronoun that doesn’t align with their birth sex, unless the teacher has parental consent.”

Sounds like they got that wrong. If a parent ‘consents’ to that, they should be required to move out of state, or be arrested. This crap wasn’t around when I grew up and it doesn’t need to be around now.

“we already have Freedom of Speech written into the Constitution”

It’s sort of precious that you believe that. Ask those who have been fired for refusing to play the Pronoun Game how much freedom of speech exists in America today.

I was reading a bio of a doctor I know and the article did not use “he” when referring to the doctor, it used “they” over and over — “they attended LSU.” etc. I am beginning to see that usage often.

Complete insanity.

This just keeps people from being fired/prosecuted for refusing to play into others’ mental delusions...they’ve been doing that to people despite the laws being on their side.

I was disappointed in that “parental consent,” too.
