He’s not his own man. Can’t think logically.

Another cheek turning fake Christian.

Another cheek turning fake Christian.

Yep, there are tons of “churches” around these days who preach a phony “hyper-grace” false gospel. That is the notion that Christians should only focus on love and forgiveness, which they interpret as being “nice” to everyone at all times, and tolerating whatever they do. A misuse of Jesus’s admonition to “judge not, lest you be judged” is their mantra. Of course, Jesus was talking about personal interactions, and about not being a hypocrite by holding others to standards that you wouldn’t want to be held to yourself.

Yes, we should all be deeply thankful and humbled by the fact that God not only pardoned us from our sins, but paid the price Himself. That is love that is beyond our capacity to understand. But God is not only loving and merciful, He is also perfectly JUST. While we as individuals are forgiven when we didn’t merit forgiveness, and should therefore be merciful toward others in our personal lives, God does not extend that mercy via the power he has given governments to “wield the sword” to punish “evildoers.” The admonitions for mercy and forgiveness in our personal lives do not extend to how governments should act, either toward domestic criminals or toward international enemies. Similarly, when the government itself becomes the dangerous criminal, it is the DUTY of any Christians within it to fight against that tyranny. It’s the principle of the watcher on the wall. We are at all times to protect and defend innocent life. If the watcher sees the evildoer coming and does nothing to stop him, and he enters the city and commits horrendous crimes, the blood of those victims is not only upon the head of the evildoer, but upon the watcher’s head as well. In essence, if you are in a position to protect the innocent, and you stand idly by, then YOU are just as culpable as the criminal who harms them.

I think that principle applies equally to every form of evil that tyrants attempt to inflict upon innocent citizens. Mike Johnson is in the wrong if he thinks he can “split the baby” here and let the government continue to abuse the rights of innocent Americans.
