“When the marriage ended years later, it was Newt who was criticized for how he ended it.”

You missed a bit of Newt’s history. He divorced her as she was extremely ill and he was already having an affair.
Folks were curious (I was) as to his silence during the Clinton debacle. I recall telling my husband that Newt was dirty and doing something to cause him to be quiet. Sure enough the affair was exposed once the dEms had no further use for Newt’s silence.

You proved my point. No one criticized her for grooming him, abusing her power over him, stealing his innocence, etc. From the modern point of view, it was extremely normal for him to eventually reject her because she was a cougar. Yet, no one did that. Almost universally, people accepted that he was an adult and knowingly entered into that relationship which became a marriage. Times have certainly changed.

That stuff about 'she had cancer' fed into the democrat lie and slander that Newt left her when she was dying. She was NOT dying. Jackie Gingrich died decades later when she was 77 years old
