Actually, in NYS, a criminal defendant is allowed to attend any court meetings or proceedings involving his case. As my Attorney wife explained it, “if the defendant’s lawyer can attend, so can the defendant.”

Fido - Stop it.

You are on every thread criticizing Trump’s lawyers when you don’t know anything. Just stop it.

I know how to end this trial very fast. Trump should set up campaign headquarters in NYC and actively campaign there. If he does that, we pretty much know that the judge will relent on keeping Trump tied up in NY. If Trump does this, Biden will have to spend a lot of money campaigning in NY. Trump should also set up offices in Chicago, Philly, San Fran, Portland and other urban areas which are getting hammered by Biden’s anti-American policies.

“I do not know what to make of this.”

fantastic tactic for appeal if judge denies this ...

Yes, it is a big deal. The defendant has the right to be present at the sidebar conferences during voir dire. See CPL 260.20 and People v. Antommarchi, 80 NY2d 247 (1992)

The way the corrupt NY system is set up there was no way to nip it in the bud. An honest jurist, like Turley, would have already disallowed the majority of the charges, but this judge and his daughter are in this for the money and the fame.

So what? Is this going to change the outcome one iota?

Oh, sorry, my mistake. These guys are LEGAL GENIUSES. I apologize for calling them anything other than that.

I’ll just sit here quietly in the corner watching this mess while my head explodes.

400 million dollar judgement? How could they have possibly done worse?

I don't mean to defend Trump's attorneys but that judgement had zero to do with the law or Trump's representation and everything to do with corruption and acute TDS. That judgment was predetermined before the trial even started. I hope that Trump's Attorney General handles these election interference cases properly after Trump is elected.

You can’t ban him from participating in his own defense.

This judge can and will give President Donald Trump the Bobby Seale treatment. Bobby Seale was the black member of the ‘Chicago 8’ on trial for the brand new federal felony of crossing state lines to conspire to commit a misdemeanor.

Bobby Seale was bound and gagged in the courtroom to prevent him from participating in his own defense, (he was not allowed to have his own lawyer, and was convicted of 16 cases of contempt for asking for his own lawyer in court) and eventually his case was severed from those of the other 7 defendants, who never challenged the federal felony charges on a constitutional basis. Consequently, federal courts routinely use this trial as a precedent to prosecute for state misdemeanors as federal felonies.

How does this happen? Can a judge just make up a number and get away with it?

The way I think of it - If some southern DA and judge got together and decided to try Obama, would Obama be in court every day defending himself?

No, it wouldn't happen.

So how is this different?

There are guardrails and constitutional protections.

When I see his attorneys arguing some fine point of law I think: “This is stupid”

They are playing by the democrats’ rules. It's foolish. Stop thinking stupid.

The legal term writ of mandamus refers to an order by a court to a lesser government official to perform an act required by law, which he has refused or neglected to do. This type of court order is a remedy that may be sought if a governmental agency, public authority, or corporation in service of the government, fails or refuses to do its public or statutory duty.

You are so smart Fido. Of course you are right. All of these guardrails have worked so well for Trump, Peter Navarro and all the others on the Right. These judges clearly would never trample Trumps Constitutional rights if only someone were there to remind them that maybe Trump has a right to a fair trial. Someone like YOU Fido. We have all watched over and over how Constitutional safeguards have been honored by Merrick Garland with the January sixers to Trump and every election case there has been as well as all of the bogus cases against Trump. We all know that the Constitution is hallowed by all Democrat Judges everywhere. All Trump's attorneys should just tell these judges that the trial will be run their way or not at all. There is a strong legal precedent for that. If they just reminded the judges that this would never happen to Obama. That would set everything straight lickity split. If only you were on the case, you could have had all of these cases dismissed a long time ago and Trump wouldn't have to be dealing with these now.
Please call these guys right away and advise them of your legal theories now so we can start winning. Habba Madaio & Associates LLP, (908) 869-1188

Please, call now. They desperately need your help. Trump needs you. In the mean time, why don't you go and fetch a ball or something?
