Don’t know why people are talking about Kharg Island. The data on that is over a decade old.
Since sanctions became an issue 10 yrs ago, Iran has used small tankers north on the Caspian to intermix its crude with Russian crude that is pipelined . . . wherever they please. They certainly never paid much attention to sanctions.
And of somewhat more importance is these numbers:
Iran oil consumption, 1.9 million barrels/day. Iran oil production 3.82 million barrels/day. It’s very good quality oil, btw, with large diesel constituent yield, versus shale.
Iran gas consumption, 229 billion cubic meters/yr. Iran gas production, 260 billion cubic meters/yr. Nearly all of this difference goes to Turkey.
Europe has hunted a replacement for GAZPROM, and there are nearly no alternatives. Iran would be one.
