Article 1 sec.6 of the Constitution gives the Senate the power to try all impeachments. Not dismiss without trial.

The House holds hearings, and votes to present evidence to the Senate for a trial.

If there is evidence, a trial is required, not dismissed by the Senate out of hand.

Exactly right. Now lets see what SCOTUS rules when they are in the hot seat. If they rule this is Constitutional in any way at all they are part of the treasonous conspiracy against the people.

R’s should press the Supremes to weigh in on this. If they hear it, it’s likely they will reflexively reply the Constitution permits the Senate to make its own rules. It’s important to get that on record, so if Trump is impeached again, a republican Senate will be free to dispatch it using this new tactic.
