True. I tend to agree with those who are saying the deep state is either blackmailing Johnson or threatening him in some way. It’s not easy to believe that that sort of thing happens in our government, but events of the past few years leave little doubt that it happens.

Something seems different about Johnson’s betrayal. Unlike Boehner, Ryan and McCarthy, he didn’t spend decades rising through the establishment ranks. His ascendency to the Speakership took the establishment of guard, as did McCarthy’s ouster as Speaker. I think he probably came in with good intentions but was flipped at some point.

Johnson was somewhat boxed in on this, by the Senate passing a bill that includes all thIs foreign spending, but no US border wall funding. Then a group of bi-partisan house members threatened to override the speaker and bring that senate bill to the house floor. In response, Johnson decided to bring up separate foreign bills, along with a separate US border bill on the house floor, breaking his pledge to only bring up foreign bills that were tied to US border funding.

He should have kept his promise and forced them to override him. The question now is, why is Trump still supporting him, and why hasn’t Gaetz or MTG filed the motion to vacate yet. They are enabling Johnson by pulling their punches now.
