House Republicans blame Greene and Freedom Caucus for lack of border wins
axios ^ | 4/22 | juliegrace bufke

A growing number of House Republicans are accusing their conservative colleagues of enabling Democratic wins, especially after this weekend's foreign aid votes.

Why it matters: Multiple members believe they could have gotten concessions from Democrats on border policy in exchange for Ukraine funding, only to be blown up by backlash from conservatives.

GOP leadership brought up border security provisions alongside their foreign aid package — but the package was blocked by Republicans from reaching the House floor under normal rules. It ultimately failed to get the two-thirds majority needed to pass the House under suspension of the rules.

Zoom in: "If you were a true conservative, you would actually advance border security, but what they want to do is they want to blow up border security," Rep. Andy Barr (R-Ky.) told Axios.

"[T]he members who scream the loudest about border security were actively and knowingly preventing us from getting it done," another member said. "They're making us the most bipartisan Congress ever," a third member told Axios. "Because they are unwilling to compromise just a little bit in a divided government, they force us to make bigger concessions and deals with the Dems."

The other side: Conservatives who advocate for blocking procedural motions argue it's necessary to light a fire under GOP leadership to demand more.

Multiple conservatives said they expected more out of Speaker Mike Johnson than former Speaker Kevin McCarthy due to his record as a rank-and-file member. "Republicans have control of the House and we should be leveraging it to secure our border, unfortunately the Uniparty is working to secure the borders of Ukraine instead of our own border," Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Mo.) tweeted. "[T]he problem is [Johnson's] gotten nothing on anything. Right? They roll him every time," Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) — who is pushing the motion to vacate — told reporters on Saturday.

Step # 1. Make the legislative process as convoluted as you can..

Step # 2. Make the legislative process changeable on demand, but don’t explain how, when or where.

Step #3. Blame your political enemies for failure since the voters cannot understand the complex, changeable legislation process.

Example…… John Kerry’s “I actually did vote for the $87 billion, before I voted against it,” comment!

There are laws in place to take care of the border. They ignore it. We don’t need any more.

This is like the abuser blaming the abused spouse for causing the beatings. There is no excuse for why the borders are open contrary to law. The House could have shut the government down until it was fixed. They didn’t want to use the power of the purse to fix the problem.

They can go to the devil. The RINOs didn’t support President Trump when he tried to get the border under control, and they are not supporting border security now. Heck they are not supporting the Republic now.

"Conservatives" who advocate for blocking procedural motions argue it's necessary to light a fire under GOP leadership to demand more.

Well, they did, and they got LESS. Idiots.

Best I can tell, the Freedom Caucus did it’s job and was supportive of HR2. Perhaps the Establishment Republicans should reconsider their position on hating conservatives and wanting open borders. Perhaps the GOP should find it within itself to support HR2.

“ There are laws in place to take care of the border. They ignore it. We don’t need any more.”

And we most definitely don’t want any more border laws passed that are authored by DemocRATS and/or Chamber of Commerce Republicans.

The Democraps ALWAYS blame the republicans for the damage they cause.

Always remember, DEMOCRAPS ARE NOT GOOD PEOPLE.

It’s as simple as that.

Pure BS from RINO surrender monkeys.

If they actually gave a damn about it, they could have extracted concessions from Democrats on border security as a condition of their vote. Instead they supported giving away yet another $60 billion of taxpayer money FOR NOTHING. They got nothing in return because they demanded nothing in return. They support the Deep State and all of its corruption.

We’ve made progress but about half of Republican politicians
are RINOs who need to be primaried and expelled.

Because those morons have won so many concessions before…(sarc)

When you’re in charge, act in charge……

Unless you’re comprised and a member of the uniparty.

….which is redundant.

Bull. That faggot Johnson was compromised, clear as day. He has been castrated (if he had anything to give to the surgeon in the first place) and at heart is pro-wetback anyway. He never would have gained meaningful border closure.

"Republicans have control of the House and we should be leveraging it to secure our border, unfortunately the Uniparty is working to secure the borders of Ukraine instead of our own border," Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Mo.)

The democrats are in charge of the White House and Senate, with a weak Republican majority in the House, exactly what conservative bills do you think would pass in regards to our southern border?

"Leveraging it to secure our border", is incredible republican naivety, because it assumes Biden cares that much about Ukraine that he would stop the flood of illegals that benefits democrats in elections. Just last week the administration was telling Ukraine to stop attacking Russian oil refineries because it might raise the world price of oil, threatening Biden's re-election.

All Biden cares about is being re-elected. A Ukraine collapse would just be blamed on Republicans.

Money is not the problem at the borders.

Because, now, the money would be diverted to "improve efficiency" of the illegal flow of aliens conducted by the leftist Democrat Party.

We need the enforcement of, and adherence to, existing law, steps by U.S. government officials who are sworn to duty, to adhere, by their official oaths to defend our United States of America:

To shut down the flow of aliens, such that: Everybody Who is NOT a U.S. Citizen, Must Enter the U.S.A. with an In-Hand Visa Issued to Them by, and at, a U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consul, Before Such Visa-holders Approach a Lawful Point of Entry - such Points of Entry spelled out as specific geographic locations of the U.S. Border.

Warning label on every plan and product of the left:

"We Don’t Bear Responsibility"

- DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Feb. 11, 2024

What Trump Has Already Won - November 3, 2020, Townhall article by Larry O'Connor

The enforcement of our immigration laws (not new laws, just the robust enforcement of the laws passed by Congress and previous administrations) has been an incredible reward for Americans who respect the rule of law.

It wouldn’t surprise me.
