Israel Military Intelligence Chief Quits Over 7 October
BBC ^ | 4/22 | David Gritten

The Israeli military's intelligence chief has resigned, saying he took responsibility for the failures before Hamas's attack on Israel on 7 October.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Major General Aharon Haliva would retire once his successor was selected.

He acknowledged in a letter that his intelligence directorate "did not live up to the task we were entrusted with".

He is the first senior figure to step down over the attack, which was the deadliest in Israel's history.

Israeli military and intelligence officials missed or ignored multiple warnings before hundreds of Hamas gunmen breached the Gaza border fence that day and attacked nearby Israeli communities, military bases and a music festival.

Isn’t Military Intelligence an oxymoron?

Hopefully an end to choosing incompetence because of equality.

One story is that Hamas was regularly practicing for the assault within sight of the IDF.

When the actual assault started the IDF thought it was just another practice session. They didn't even go to the first alert level which would have roused everyone out of bed so they had a chance to get their guns and shoot back.

The South Koreans wouldn’t have made that mistake. Just look at the DMZ.

Accountability.

Nobody here resigned after 9/11/2001, or even after the blue-ribbon commission report.

"He acknowledged in a letter that his intelligence directorate 'did not live up to the task we were entrusted with'."

A person-in-charge that accepts responsibility for their actions or lack thereof. Impressive!

The number one failure on the part of the Israeli government was their reluctance to trust their own citizens with firearms.

Barbarians were pouring across the border, and all firearms in Israeli towns were stored away in central locations under lock and key. The average Israeli was defenseless.

Lol, not.

There is a Jewish term. ‘scapegoat’

Everyone knows that this was known and encouraged/organized.

The reasons are many and Israel benefits greatly.

Qui Bono.

But this helps the choreographed narrative, and Wikipedia will always mention the “failure” of this man as the reason

One problem. 20% of the population in Israel are Muslims.

Do you want to give them arms?

Ah, yes. That is a concern. But it’s easily solvable. If you served honorably in the Israeli military at any time, you should have gun rights. Keep guns and ammunition in your home. You are the militia.

This topic was discussed elsewhere on Free Republic. Someone mentioned that like all European-style governments, Israel’s government has a Big Brother attitude. The government can be trusted with firearms. But the average citizen cannot.

This Arabs living in Israel, have been able to observe how
the Arabs outside Israel have gamed things over the decades.
They also sit in government positions also. They have a
pretty good idea of what is going on, absent the propaganda
that outsiders are exposed to. They have the highest
standard of living of the vast majority of Arabs in the
region.

I suspect they’d be pretty comfortable standing side by side
with Israelis defending Israel.

I’ve not seen a breakdown of that sentiment though.

There is no better place for an Arab to live in the Middle East than Israel, and it’s not even close.

No, no, no!

Haven’t you been listening to FR’s self annointed?

According to them, Netanyahu knew about the attack, it’s timing, and everything and LET it happen so that Israel had an excuse to invade Gaza.

1,200 dead Israelis were just the price he was willing to pay.

Because, you know, evil Jews.

The worst part of that was that one of the likely architects of the failure
was Assistant AG Jamie Gorelick, who supported the infamous “wall of separation” between CIA and FBI.

She was appointed to the commission. The deep state perps investigated themselves. What a surprise 😮[\S].

I agree.

I believe their women are well treated, which is a very big step in the right direction.

Societies that treat their women well, are generally pretty decent all the way
around.
