Trump defends House Speaker Mike Johnson amid ouster threat: ‘Trying very hard’
The New York Post ^ | 04/23/2024 | Josh Christenson

“Look, we have a majority of one, OK? It’s not like he can go and do whatever he wants to do,” Trump, 77, told radio host John Fredericks on Real America’s Voice Monday night.

“I think he’s a very good person. You know, he stood very strongly with me on NATO,” added Trump, referring to a campaign rally in which he urged member states to pay more for their common defense — or he would let Russia “do whatever the hell they want.”

“I think he’s trying very hard,” the 45th president concluded.

Johnson (R-La.) bucked the majority of his conference on Saturday and joined with 210 House Democrats to pass $60.8 billion that will assist Ukraine in its war against Russia.

*** “Mike Johnson’s speakership is over. He needs to do the right thing, to resign, and allow us to move forward in a controlled process. If he doesn’t do so, he will be vacated,” Greene said on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.”

Two other House Republicans — Reps. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Paul Gosar of Arizona — signed onto a motion introduced by Greene to vacate Johnson’s speakership ahead of the vote.

All three cited Johnson’s failure to secure the US border amid the growing migrant crisis, while Massie accused the speaker of getting run over by Democrats during recent negotiations on government spending. ***

Well at least Trump is consistent. Has not flip flopped here.

He was for The Johnson and still is. Does this mean he also is for the 61 Billion dollars to Ukraine?

I have to admit I do not understand Trump’s support for Johnson, BUT it must be part of ‘the plan’, nothing else makes sense

Fair question to ask. It would appear so.

“Beginning to think Trump is not all that different than Johnson...”

Yep, what this country needs is more democrats and Biden for four more years. Yes sir. That will save the country.

I bet you are a DeSantis-bot.

I noticed that DeSantis is making himself more and more available in the news cycle. Circling like a vulture thinking he has found a dead body, just waiting on the New York verdict.

Trump has to be pragmatic, he may have to work with Johnson when he’s back in the White House. He doesn’t have the “luxury” of being “pure” as we do.

I’m not into circular firing squads so I remain supportive of Mr. Trump and adamantly opposed to Mr. Johnson.

Thomas Massie and Marjorie Taylor Greene seem to be providing the political leadership right now I will not criticize them one bit.

I remember what I’m for and that is my own country and not Ukraine for example.

I support Israel and Israel’s ability to defend itself but again we are 34 trillion dollars down.

That is not acceptable there is nothing more to spend we have to find something for the southern border but enough is enough there is no more for other nations.

Johnson and the DC Republicans are spineless.

Even if they decided to give away our store as they did, they could have delayed the vote until the Senate took up the Mayorkas impeachment.

They got absolutely nothing in return for doing the Democrat’s bidding.

Folks, we are in the middle of a bloodless coup.

This one is for all the marbles.

Republicans need to pull together and make it till the next election.

At some point reality trumps ideology.

I don’t like some of what Johnson is doing but I understand why he is having to do it.

We need to do what ever it takes to maintain the majority and make it to the 2024 election and work to elect a Republican majority

BOOM! You'd think he would have it figured out by now based on his past experience with losers, but, for some reason he wants to stick with them.

If Mike falls, the Democrat/RINOs will make sure a Biden puppet will replace him. Trust Trump—He knows what he’s doing!

Of course it is. Trump is, as always, playing 38DD chess while everyone else is playing tiddlywinks. Trust Trump! Trust The Plan!! MAGA!!!

Bad move. Trump’s biggest problem is that he thinks the reason he has been vaulted to prominence is because of who he is. Truth is he is the tool the normals use to shove it up the leftist obamaholes. If the base believes he is siding with the leftist it may be the one thing he can do to lose support.

Orban said Trump would not give Ukraine one penny in their meeting. Somebody is lying it seems.
