Columbia seems to think there's something to 'negotiate' here with pro-Hamas protestors

Pro-Hamas protestors, not all of whom are students, have creating a living nightmare for Columbia University's students and the working element of its faculty and administration.

Jewish students have been targeted and threatened. University pathways have been blocked. Smelly tent cities not up to anyone's code have gone up. Trash is visible. The university lawn has been trampled. Classes have moved to Zoom for the remainder of the semester, making Columbia the world's priciest online school. And yes, there is a public relations price for the school to pay for this mayhem, the school's name stinks.

Students who go to Columbia to study and faculty and researchers who work at Columbia to increase knowledge can't do what they need to do. But no matter.

While about a hundred of them from the Barnard College branch of the school have been suspended, including Rep. Ilhan Omar's whiny "P.C. police" daughter, the rest of the baying pro-Hamas campers remain.

The school needs to finish its job and shut this crap down.

Instead, they're negotiating with the "students" as New York Police Department riot police stand in the background and it's not going well.

According to the New York Post:

Columbia University will continue discussions with anti-Israel student protesters to reach an agreement on a plan to dismantle their encampment “for the next 48 hours” after a midnight deadline passed without a resolution, according to a report.

Riot police were seen assembling overnight as a University spokesperson said university administrators made “important progress with representatives of the student encampment,” the Columbia Spectator reported.

University President Minouche Shafik initially set a midnight deadline on Wednesday for them to clear out before the school would “consider alternative options” to remove the tent city.

However, just past midnight, the Students for Justice in Palestine, Columbia University Apartheid Divest posted on X that they had left talks with the school “until there is a written commitment that the administration will not be unleashing the NYPD or the National Guard on its students.”

What's to negotiate here? They protested, they made a mess, now it's time to get out and go home. No go, well, here come the cops. Punto.

Universities are driving themselves into irrelevance. America could certainly do without a good chunk of the programs they offer.

Two months after 90/11/01, Columbia University President Dr. Nemat “Minouche” Shafik was filmed. She argued that although terrorism has sprung up in “fairly rich and open societies,” its most fertile ground is in countries beset by “economic stagnation and political authoritarianism.”
“You’ll always have individuals with extreme views. But what’s really troubling in the region is that there’s actually quite a broad base of society which has some sympathy for the terrorists, not so much because they approve of their methods, but it’s a form of protesting against a system which is not delivering for them on the economic or the political front,” she said.

Must be a presidential election year. Pro hamas, occupy wall street, chaz/chop and blm are some of the latest. I would bet many were part of each of these.

“Universities are driving themselves into irrelevance”

They already arrived there some time ago.

Now they are at the recharging station just charging up for the jump over[into] the canyon.

Evil Knievel they are.

In May of 1968, French universities were out of control, hotbeds of radical leftwing chaos and violence. Finally the French government just shut them down, locked up the buildings and sent everyone packing. End of problem.

If these students & faculty are arrested, check to see if they’re here on an F1 or H1B visa. If so, deport ‘em.

Send them to Gaza.

These jewish students are not “Chaim Lipschitz from Ballzitch, Idaho” they are children of the elite kapos that have been voting Dem for decades. Now their votes are coming back to haunt them. I, for one, find this whole thing hilarious and am getting kind of smug seeing these kapos’ kids reap the results of their parent’s longtime support of Democrats.

But they’re the types whose wealthy mommies and daddies would claim brutality like the idiots who blocked Trump and Melania from going to the church across from the White House. They spread lie that “chemical weapons” were sprayed on the demonstrators. It was tear gas after 40 Secret Service agents had physical injuries from the attackers and a corner of the church was actually set on fire by them.
