Anti-Israel protesters set up ‘intifada’ tent camp at state-funded NYC college

Anti-Israel protesters set up an “intifada” encampment on the campus of state-funded City College of New York Thursday — with participants raising a Palestinian flag over a quad.

The encampment was set up Thursday morning, and by the afternoon the Convent Avenue campus was riddled with flags and signs, video from independent reporter Talia Jane showed.

“Palestine calls this University Intifada,” Within Our Lifetime organizer Nerdeen Kiswani said into a megaphone, per indie reporter Oliya Scootercaster.

“We have a right to control where our tuition goes and that it should never go to oppressing any people anywhere!” Kiswani added in a fiery speech that was shared on the group’s X page.

Several of the signs in the encampment area demanded that CUNY system divest from Israel in light of the ongoing war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
