District Attorney Guy James Gray, a "good old boy" Democrat who considers himself "the most well known DA in America" as the prosecuting attorney of the James Byrd, Jr. murder trials has been running around the country collecting awards. Back home, no bond forfeitures have been collected for years, costing the taxpayers thousands of dollars.
Gray has also been seeking a presidential appointment while not doing the job he was responsible for doing.
Mike Lout, owner of KJAS, the local radio station, has been named Texas Broadcaster ot the Year, three straight years ,broke the story with his investigative reporting.
