Left my house at 0600 hours this morning...my commute normally takes me 20 mins tops. I just got to work 1/2 hour ago at 1300(1 o'clock for you non military types).

Arafat Donates Blood for U.S. Victims I doubt that the PLO proper had anything to do with this. It would be obvious suicide, and Arafat wants power and perks. If there's an inkling of official Palestinian participation, expect among other things, for there to be a U.S. airbase in Israel within weeks.

Guess working with the military and being former military,,I just felt I had to be here with them...some of our former department members work at the Pentagon and I just had to know..so far so good.
I also thanked the MP's and the local police for standing guard to protect us from harm and ill will.
My six hour ride was a small sacrifice in comparison.

Just got back from a prayer service I played for. About 1,000 people in attendance. When we did "God Bless America" toward the end, everyone - spontaneously - rose to their feet.
Did a bit of driving around today; flags at half-staff everywhere. Many stores have "God Bless America" on their marquees.

Weird: Reporter saying that people in the streets being pushed southward from the Empire State bldg.
Well that's toward the already disaster area at the other end of the island...No wonder people are starting to panic!

Same as the old world, my dear friend. BTW, instead of nukes over Kabul, how about 10 fuel-air explosives, and 50 or 100 of those 30K lb "daisy cutters" that they drop from C-130s.
I do agree ABG. There needs to be a smoking hole. But remember, if we're going to salt the ground afterwards, there shouldn't be any radiation around. (Nasty) GRIN!

In re Intel Community having their hands tied on HUMINT:
Guy on O'Reilly (who spent 27 yrs. in CIA and some years as Iraqi station chief) said tonite that there is a standing order (Exec. Order or regulation) that forbids spooks from dealing with informants, agents and moles who have a 'shady' character. Says it severely limits them by preventing them from recruiting the best informants because of arbitrary rules...
Also, there is an Executive Order banning assassinations by US executive branch (murky over whose it was, either Ford or Carter, but bets are on Carter...).
Also, supposedly someone offered to have UOx42 flown back from Aussie land to 'help' Bush with response to attack. Last I hear both UOx42 and Algore are both overseas with no prayer of getting back anytime soon....

Listening to the various talking heads and "experts" and one I especially respect, Lawrence Eagleburger, it seems we're headed for some sort of coordinated attack in the next few days, &
it will be just the beginning of a new kind of war, and we will all be prepared for casualties, foreign and domestic.
My husband came home and said that several young aquaintances, in the Nat'l Guard, have been told to go home and stay there. They are on notice..
