In the early 90s I worked at an American military installation where permanent liaisons from several countries resided. One was a Canadian officer. We became friends and visited each other--with our families--on several occasions. He was subsequently reposted to Canada and retired. I, too, retired. We have not seen each other in years, but continue to stay in touch through holiday greetings. He emailed me last week expressing his feelings of sadness for the people killed and wounded. He offered to come here and do anything that needed doing. In addition he and his wife are sending us their blood. What more could we ask? Chuckyd

History has forgotten the Canadians hiding our diplomats and getting them out of Iran twenty years ago.
One of the most stirring things I've ever seen was a billboard sign that appeared near San Bernardino, California soon afterward. It featured the American and Canadian flags crossed with the message, "Thanks friend."
