There IS that phrase again, Amen Corner. Israel is entitled to do as she wishes but we needn't go along with it. The confusion of American interest with Israeli interest is apparent, in Congress, in the Press and perhaps most of all, here at Free Republic. I do support Israel as it is far too late to abandon her, but we must not confuse Israel with South Dakota. She is not the 51st state. If she becomes so bold as to think she'll have her cake and eat it too (and who's to say she isn't already) then she must take some of the responsibility for her actions. Harry Truman helped create Israel by executive fiat, the US has propped her up these 50 years, and now appropriate US policy has to choose between 1 billion people or 15 million. If those 15 million were from South Dakota it would be easy to understand. But they are not. Fifty more miles ? With us at her side ? You've got to be kiddding.
