Mistakenly switched onto "Politically Incorrect" only to catch Mahar degrading President Bush, making light of the power of prayer, and comparing God to Santa Claus.
If not enough, he referred to Sept. 11 as "that attack thing." I should have him removed from TV because I'm offended, except I'm a WASP-- so nobody cares. I'm also offended by people who are always offended.
I never watch that guy and all of nights for me to hear the crap I heard and now I'm too mad to sleep!

When non-Christians were accused in a recent parable thread of getting mad at God because he wouldn't open another door "to the banquet," I countered that we weren't mad at God. God was nice, just like Santa Claus.
He calls himself a "libertarian" but is really a Clintonite apologist Liberal.
He has stated before he's basically an atheist, so I wouldn't let the comments about religion get to you. He considers all religion as bogus, not just Christianity.
I too, quit watching a couple of years ago. I now refuse to watch, regardless of who is on, (even gun-rights advocates) because I know it will just "tick me off"..

Maher is a jerk. That' said, how does a person spot a lurker?
No because he doesn't really care to hear another opinion. Watch him cut guests off, mid-rebutal. I don't watch regularly but saw the episode with Houston mayoral candidate Orlando Sanchez last month.
Mahar had some point that he was trying to make and none of his guests were buying it (right or left). 3 times when the discussion took a more interesting turn Mahar dragged it back to his strained concept.
Not that he has more important things to do, but I honestly don't picture him taking any time to hear a reasoned argument from anyone holding a counter viewpoint to his own.
If enough comments from threads are noticed over the course of a week, then it might be apparent.
I challenged Arianna Huffington (on her website forum) to defend her claim that Dan Patrick is a "shock jock". She never responded. Within a week, Dan took issue with a few points from her piece on him (that she wrote to defend Mahar), one of the points was the "shock jock" bit. Now I don't know if Dan viewed the thread (he didn't post any followup to mine if he did) and Dan knows what he wants to get riled up about (especially when the subject is himself) but it seemed like he was silent on that point of her attack until I posted a message about it.

Don't be concerned about the specific emphasis on Protestant. If the Democrats ever get control of our government again, they'll be just as happy to persecute all religious groups equally.
