I respect journalists for the Wall Street Journal. I can't see why you would lump Pearl with your examples. In any case, a US citizen has been kidnapped by Islamic barbarians. I don't think that this is the time for a rant against the dominant media. We should all defend fellow citizens regardless of their politics.

I agree. This is no time to compare the relative merits of reporters. There is the possibility that reporters will fear their safety in such places and we'll be deprived of first-hand news, no matter how distorted it is.
