Here's one:

Huck's Report from Manhattan.

This was an account of my experiences on 9-11 in lower Manhattan, written and posted on 9-12. On post #85 of that thread, there are some photos I took on 9-11. It took me two months to finally put the pictures up. In the weeks following 9-11, I had had quite enough pictures of that day. But I did finally post mine, so as to complete my report.

Thank you Huck. I was looking for your report yesterday. Glad you made it out ok. There were lots of people here worried about you.

I know. Here's a thread on that subject:

FReeper Huck Not Heard From - Was Very Close to WTC in Last Post, posted 11:38 EST by HalfIrish. I didn't mean to worry folks. I naturally logged on when I got to my building, and then things got crazy so fast, I didn't have a chance to check in til I got home that night. After 9 am, I didn't even talk to my wife until about 6pm.

Here's another gripping first-hand account from FReeper Tawiskaro.

I Was There: A Glimpse of Hell

He concludes:

I now have a greater role as an American citizen—to make sure that no one forgets what evil has been done to us. I will not rest until those innocent thousands who died so near to where I stood are avenged.

I want to thank you both again for taking me to the Pentagon last Saturday. As someone who lives halfway across the country, I'd like for you to know how grateful I am for your faithfulness in making sure those who served all of us on 911 by making sure that plane didn't reach the intended destination are not forgotten.

I was impressed by the great care taken to preserve the memorabilia layed at the base of the two trees and the ornaments hung on the branches.

Fresh flowers, 2-3 day old flowers that had been trimmed, plastic protectors on the paper pictures, letters, and flags. Money stapled and taped to the trunk of the tree, coins - lots of them - left untouched at the base of both trees. A bullet keychain dangling in the wind from a branch with a clear view of the hole in the Pentagon behind it.

Tourists coming and going to pay their respect. Locals, businessmen, kids praying on the hill facing the Pentagon.

Large orange cranes in the background demonstrating the healing that has begun. The bottom outter floor being raised closing the hole in the structure that is symbolic of the hole in America's heart.

It's funny - there was activity everywhere - the construction workers were working, visitors, tourists, and others paying their respect all around, a freeway immediately beside us - but I don't remember hearing any sound. I know we talked, I can see you saying something to me in my mind, but at the time, it was like slow motion. No real sound in real time.

Thank you for representing us, Freepers, with the memorial you prepared that those of us in D.C. were able to sign. Please post a picture of it and ping me to it? Thank you for showing up for us faithfully as you have been and I'm sure will continue to do.

Thank you for posting this. I was just looking for some of these threads a couple of nights ago - with no success.

You're welcome. People were occasionally bumping the original threads, causing some surprise and fear that something new was happening. Anyway, I found myself drawn repeatedly to the threads I had found, so I decided to gather many of them together. Hopefully, enough people saw and bookmarked this so it becomes easier to find in the future.

By the way, note this post:

Osama bin Ladin.

Now that's instant FReeper analysis, the first ID of Osama that I saw on these threads.

When people ask me "Where were you?", I answer:

"Third reply, First Thread."

Thanks for doing this. I just read through all of the threads again, as I did on that horrible day.
Unfortunately, the media has moved on now. Enron is captivating them, and the war is old news now.
We must never forget this terrible day, those who died, and those who are left behind.

Americans have a short attention span and are easily numbed to events. Witness Clinton's ability to outlast the public's patience for the story.
