DIZZY BASIC
LOOSE FIT

DN MECCA usa

Before Columbus came to America, the population of the Native Americans - the first, aboriginal peoples - was about 5 million. By 1890, it was 250,000. During this same period the non-original population in the U.S. increased from 0 to 75 million. As it did so, it usurped the ancestral lands of the Indians who had inhabited the continent for centuries, and destroyed both the delicate balance of their economy and an age-old way of life. Pivotal events such as the removal, in the 1830's, of the Southeastern tribes to what was called Indian Territory, the Long March of the Navajo to imprisonment at Fort Sumner in 1864, and the tragedy of Wounded Knee in 1890 marked the advance of a new culture that, by the end of the century, had savagely replaced a much older one.

"SEEK KNOWLEDGE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE"

TOPICS: Culture/Society; Miscellaneous
KEYWORDS:
Purchased several items on clearance at a local discount emporium, part of a national chain. When I got home and began to wear them I discovered this anti-America propaganda screed in a pair of jeans in the lot, made by a manufacturer using the name "MECCA". I think that there may have been a similar and related screed on one of the tags which I threw away.

Somehow I don't think that these folks are really interested in all knowledge "from the cradle to the grave", but only that which fits the desires of radical, anti-American Islamicism. Have any other Freepers encountered this brand of sportswear and found similar little bits of propaganda? Who are these folks who make "MECCA" sports and leisure wear?

BTW, "DIZZY BASIC LOOSE FIT" was the tag above the little piece of propaganda on the waist band, but I think it is an appropriate title.

They are an hip-hop clothes manufacturer. Finding that propaganda in their clothes doesn't seem very surprising.

Thanks, I'll ask my teenagers to explain the hip-hop phenomenon. I do not think it is a light thing that this kind of anti-American disinformation is spread by teen culture styles without effective countering. Hopefully, as Americans sacrifice their lives in the War against Terror, some in the press will end the free ride for this junk. We need more Charlton Heston readings, of some of the "hip-hop" message.

Thanks for reminding me about what Charlton Heston did when he read those lyrics in front of the heads of the record company. That was great.
From the little I know about it the message of hip-hop is every problem in America is caused by whitey.

Figures. I love it when they refer to such stuff as "culture". Gives a whole new meaning to the term.
