I am consistently amazed at the amount of vitriol directed at Spears. She has zero political interests/leanings (as far as I can tell), and doesn't seem to cause anybody any harm (except the teary fans here, I suppose). Why the strong emotions over a simple pop star?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm looking for an excuse to spank her.
