Gadhafi: Change Israel to ‘Isratine’

Libyan leader proposes new democracy, rejects Saudi plan

DUBAI, March 25 — Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi said Israel should be replaced by a democracy called “Isratine” where unarmed Israelis and Palestinians could live in peace. “If the Jews want peace, they should accept to live in peace and drop arms with their Palestinian brethren,” Gadhafi said in an interview with al-Jazeera satellite television.

GADHAFI, WHO HAS rejected a Saudi Middle East peace bid, said it was “impossible” to create an independent Palestinian state along with Israel because “the Israelis would not accept to live within the range of Palestinian guns.”

Gadhafi put forward his own Middle East peace plan at an Arab summit last year. It included demands for dismantling weapons of mass destruction in the region and the return of 7 million Palestinian refugees.

“The initiatives that have been imposed on Arabs ... resulted in the blood that is being shed,” Gadhafi said, referring to the 18-month Palestinian uprising against Israeli occupation.

The Saudi initiative, the top issue on the agenda of the upcoming Arab summit, envisages Arab normalization with the Jewish state in return for full Israeli withdrawal from Arab land occupied during the 1967 Middle East war.

Gadhafi said Israel should also dismantle its weapons of mass destruction and withdraw from occupied Syrian land if it wanted peace with non-Palestinian Arabs.

Rush is right. The only way there will ever be peace in the middle east is for either Israel or the Palestinians to annihilate the other.

Isratine? Is that like Ovaltine?

The only cure for Palestine so called, is a heavy dose of Vitamin B-52, accompanied by a daisy-cutter and a little Nukie.

Dubya, I like the sound of that.

“If the Jews want peace, they should accept to live in peace and drop arms with their Palestinian brethren”

As for this little sound bite, since when have the Palestinians deigned to call themselves brethren with the Israelis? Seems to me, if the Pals want to make peace with Israel, they have to stop lynching their own brothers just because they suspect them of sympathizing with Israel. It would help too if they stopped handing out heavenly rewards and family benefits to "martyrs." And how about taking all the Jewish/Western Civ hatred out of their religion. Sometimes going to the root of the problem helps.

Myself, I think Louis Farrakhan could take part of the $1 billion pledge from Quaddafi to his Nation of Islam and get himself some land cheap, in Libya, with his beloved Islamic Muslims (the Religion of Peace).

In a letter to Attorney General Janet Reno, Congressman Peter King (R-NY) called a Federal Investigation of Quaddafi's $1 billion pledge. Calling Farrakhan's talks with Quaddafi "an act of high treason." King also urged the House International Relations Subcommittee on International Operations to hold hearings on Farrakhan's trip.

I wonder if this $1 billion pledge was ever investigated, considering we are dealing with National Terrorists and enemies of America that just happen to be Muslims, and Farrakhan makes no bones about his hate for America. I don't think Quaddafi gave Farrakhan a billion dollars because of his sparkling personallity.

I understand why the last administration would not investigate this, but maybe this one had, you think?

Israel has to maintain control of as much territory as possible not just for her own security, but to protect America's flank. No way Rumsfeld can be comfortable maintaining a joint US/Israeli war room in Tel Aviv with a nascent iraqi supporting state 9 miles away.
Good point. I've been thinking along these lines for awhile. The whole concept of "peace in the Middle East" is a flawed one as long as 95% of the Arab Moslems hate the USA. It's actually better for the USA for there to be an ongoing war, than a false peace, with its false sense of security leading to "suprises" like 9/11. The ongoing conflict keeps the USA on guard, which is where we must be until that distant future day when sanity begins to slowly creep over the Arab world, as it must.

I have an alterate suggestion - change Libya to one big gas station. You could take over the place with a troop of boy scouts. Nobody takes its psychotic dictator seriously anymore, and everyone knows what he is. He is defenseless and completely without allies. So just squash his tyranny like a bug.

Yes... I've read this one... Isn't this where the alligator coaxes the gingerbread man to get closer and closer to the predator's mouth so that he can devour the unwitting pastry?

Thanks, but no thanks.

Peter King has no credibility on the issue of terrorism, he's a long time supporter of the IRA. And incidentally, his views on the subject of Ireland are founded in fairy tales.

I'd vote for Palsrael.

Then the Israelis and the Palestinians could say:

"We're all Pals, now."

Thanks Bagehot, I did not know Peter King or anything about him, just thought someone might know about this $1 billion pledge given to Farrakhan on his Middle East tour.

I don't know why this mans connections to these terrorists stays on my mind but our being attacked by Muslins that want us wiped from the face of the earth and his love for these people, (he defends them and said we would pay someday) bothers the hell out of me. Is there not a line an American should not cross in when our country is being attacked, and is this Treason?

Actually, Jordan is their homeland. It is 70% of PAlestine set aside to be an arab state. People just don't talk about this.

Actually, Jordan is their homeland.

Thanks, that's why I mentioned it, having remembered the Trans-Jordan that was their post-partition allotment.

I'd vote for a United States of Israel which stretches from the Euphrates to the Nile.
