Historic proclamation of a philosopher (Arab paper spreads lie about Benjamin Franklin and Jews)

THE next time you see a $100 bill, have a look at the face on it — Benjamin Franklin, an early American patriot. As early as 1787, he warned of the danger of the Jews. Though I have read widely about the Jews, I have found no truer or more accurate an opinion than that of Franklin. His opinion was also shared by George Washington who became the first president of the United States.

Franklin said: “I agree completely with General Washington that we must protect this young nation from their influence. In every land the Jews have settled, they have depressed the moral level and lowered the degree of commercial honesty. They have remained apart and unassimilated, rejecting every attempt to absorb them and scorning Christianity on which this nation is built. They tried to sabotage it by objecting to its borders and creating a state within a state. They have attempted to wreak economic ruin upon every nation that has tried to challenge them; look at Spain and Portugal. If they are not expelled from these United States by the Constitution within less than a 100 years, they will stream into the country in such numbers that they will rule and destroy us and change the form of government for which we Americans have shed our blood and sacrificed our lives and property.”

Franklin goes on to say in his historic letter to the Continental Congress: “I warn you gentlemen, that if you do not exclude the Jews forever, your children and your children’s children will curse you from their graves. Their ideas will not be those of Americans even if they live among us for 10 generations. The leopard cannot change its spots. The Jews are a danger to this land, and if they are allowed to enter, they will imperil our institutions. They should be excluded by the Constitution.”

This historic proclamation came from a highly educated man that the British Department of Education calls multitalented; he was an artist, a philosopher, an author, a scientist, a diplomat and a leader in the area of civil rights, a scientist and researcher. America did not heed his words and what he said has come true in its entirety both in the US and in Palestine — where clearly the Jews have taken over. But Palestine is merely the beginning; the locusts will spread throughout Arabia.

Hey Veronica:

Hey.

Do you really believe this BS? (Personally I doubt it. If you were that stupid you could not turn on your computer.)

If I believed it why would I call it a lie?

Were you posting this to show how good the Arabs are at dragging up old, disproven propaganda? (If so, thanks. It helps to know just how low your enemy really is.)

I posted it to show that blood libels against Jews, (and BTW American icons) are being published as fact, and poisoning minds.

Or are you a paid PR hack, spreading rumors you care nothing about either way? (If so, I pity the sorry state of your soul.)

Are you serious, or a satirist?

Toward the end of his life Franklin tended to be more inclined toward the God of the scripture .

Thanks for the ping.

It's comforting to know that it's a forgery. But still too many people think it's real. That anyone would do such a thing is beyond me. The world is changing for the batter. More and more people see who the real evil ones are. At this time, the IDF is stampeding on them!

Franklin always described himself as a Quaker. Like many or most of the Founding Fathers, he also seemd to subscribe to some Deist beliefs. As such, it is beyond belief that he would have uttered much less harbored any anti-semitic sentiments.

In my experience the vast majority of Protestants view the Jewish people as cousins if not brothers in worship of the God of Abraham. So much of our belief is based on Old Testament scripture (Torah of course included) that it should be anti-thetical for a Protestant Christian to be an anti-semite. Most of us subscribe to the belief that our Saviour is a Jew and are hopeful that this belief gets us included at the same table as the "Chosen People".

There are of course exceptions. Members of the KKK hate the Jews as much or more than Blacks and Catholics, and most of them were raised in some sort of Baptist tradition. (PS: They were also until very recently devout followers of the Democrat Party). But educated Protestants of the Colonial and Revolutionary period would have been extremely tolerant of the Jewish community.

Serious only if that means seriously embarrassed about a too hasty post. (But maybe I can spin it to claim satire?)

Thanks for the :).

It would be wonderful if they held to those ideals. General Washington would be appalled at the state of the government today.

Glad to see we can "all get along". Great to see the quick understanding you came to.

Quite honestly, until I saw the "break" preceding Veronica's comments, I was wondering myself what this was all about. Knowing Veronica I had the benefit of knowing her perspective and quickly caught on. Terrific post, but I find it hard to beleive that this even "sounds" like Franklin.

His opinion was also shared by George Washington

The same George Washington? Who wrote:

To the Hebrew Congregation in Newport Rhode Island

Gentlemen:

While I receive with much satisfaction, your Address replete with expressions of affection and esteem, I rejoice in the opportunity of answering you, that I shall always retain a grateful remembrance of the cordial welcome I experienced in my visit to New port, from all classes of Citizens.

The reflection on the days of difficulty and danger which are past, is rendered the more sweet, from a consciousness that they are succeeded by days of uncommon prosperity and security. If we have wisdom to make the best use of the advantages with which we are now favored, we cannot fail, under the just administration of a good Government, to become a great and a happy people.

The Citizens of the United States of America have a right to applaud themselves for having given to mankind examples of an enlarged and liberal policy: a policy worthy of imitation. All possess alike liberty of conscience and immunities of citizenship. It is now no more that toleration is spoken of, as if it was by the indulgence of one class of people, that another enjoyed the exercise of their inherent natural rights. For happily the Government of the United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance, requires only that they who live under its protection, should demean themselves as good citizens, in giving it on all occasions their effectual support.

It would be inconsistent with the frankness of my character not to avow that I am pleased with your favorable opinion of my administration, and fervent wishes for my felicity. May the Children of the Stock of Abraham, who dwell in this land, continue to merit and enjoy the good will of the other inhabitants, while every one shall sit in safety under his own wine and fig tree, and there shall be none to make him afraid. May the father of all mercies scatter light and not darkness in our paths, and make us all in our several vocations useful here, and in his own due time and way everlastingly happy.

George Washington Letter to the Touro Synagogue, 1790

I thought Franklin was a Deist not a Christian.

Franklin never, that I know, came out and said what he was. He did hang around with Unitarian types and his comments on the Bible are in that tradition. Liberals like to claim as many of the founders were deists as they can in order to prove, in their minds, America was not founded on Christian principles. Paine is the only one I am aware of who came out and called himself a deist. He hated Christianity. And he loved the French Revolution. Figures, doesn't it?

Also, at the time, there was fierce competition between denominations for souls. Jefferson was called both a deist and an atheist by those who thought Unitarian Christians were all going to hell.

Amusing post from the Anti-Defamation League, isn't it? The socialist totalitarians at the ADL defend Franklin from nonsensical charges of antisemitism while, at the same time, they scurry around the nation finding antisemites under every bed. No difference really between the neoNazis and the skinheads the ADL attacks for pushing this nonsense and the ADL itself. Except one thing. The neoNazis and the skinheads haven't had to pay out $10 million bucks for calling anyone an antisemite:

Judge Slams ADL for Hurting Couple Tarred As 'Anti-Semites'

And you find WHAT amusing? ...that the Arab press would continue to spout such ignorance to its people? ...that Arab citizens it is directed toward BELIEVE this ignorance? that the Arab people are ignorant? ...that anybody HAS to defend against such ignorance? ...or do you just find it amusing that the ADL (or any Jewish group) finds itself having to be held responsible for its actions (unlike the state controlled Arab Press)?

I personally don't agree with the liberal socialist activities of the ADL that are outside of their original mission, but fall short of finding anything humorous in their defense against blatant anti-semitism.

On the other hand your Neo-Nazi/skinhead heroes have yet to show any respectable agenda....If only they would stray from their "mission" we might actually find something redeeming in them, despite the offensive nature their mere existance presents to our heroes of WWII.

Oh yeah, the ADL is worse than Neo-Nazis and skinheads.

IN FACT there is a Neo-Nazi in jail, who has had to make a huge financial payment to some folks he slimed.

Laura Bush has no problem with the ADL. Nice job changing the subject (or trying to.)

Hmmm I'm almost sure I read somewhere that Jefferson said he was a Deist( personally I don't agree this country was founded on Christian principles more like pre Rosseau enlightment principles).

Humanism, enlightenment, progressivism, liberalism, positivism and, of course, Marxism are logical developments of Christian immanentist eschatology. The founders were steeped in Christian tradition. Were they not, we would be probably be living under some form of Asiatic depotism.

And you find WHAT amusing?

The ADL defending Ben Franklin. When socialist scum such as those in the ADL praise a man whose ideology they despise, I get worried. Could be a sign of the final days. If the NAACP comes out next and defends Thomas Jefferson or GLSEN says nice things about the Catholic Church, I'm stocking up on food, buying a gun and barricading my house. Might even build an ark. The end times will be upon us.
