[history]
Many black students who will graduate from Michigan State University next month are excited about MSU's first Black Celebratory, an optional ceremony that will honor them for earning a degree.
But the event has not left everyone feeling festive. Critics say the celebratory is unfair and promotes separatism.

They don't have anything harder. If anything they have had it easier because of the quota scholarships and such.

"The response of critics is indicative of white privilege, because they don't really understand why this is a significant accomplishment for black students," O'Brien said. "For white students to say we all have the same struggle" is misguided."Of white priviledge.....?"
If anyone has priviledge at Universities these days, it's minorities.

As I see it, if the University receives any Federal money of any type, this is illegal and cannot be held! However, who, if anybody, do you think will try to stop it? HAHA

I have noticed that Blacks want both integration and secregation. The integration comes into play when they want to become part of white clubs and other societies but segregation when the shoe is reversed.

Does anyone doubt that white professors err on the side of ease when grading members of apparently protected minorities?
And I would wager that these folks, just guessing now, are more likely to take "soft" courses where the grading is subjective.
I would further wager that these folks are more likely to have been the recipients of grants/scholarships/free/unearned cash/benefits than other students.
White privilege?

Aren't black already separated in the normal graduations? I thought they go in order of class rank.

"What would happen if some students tried to organize an all-white graduation? All hell would break loose. They would be labeled bigots." Well duh, Michael! Jeez! You're in senior in college and you are just now learning about the double standards permitted between whitey, harbinger of all that is evil and poor oppressed minorities? I had that rule nailed down as a freshman!
</sarcasm>
However, it would be amusing to see the reaction of students and faculty if someone (with cajones the size of bowling balls no doubt) tried to impliment a whites-only graduation at this school, or tried to have a whites-only dorm at a school that has blacks-only dorms.

Aren't black already separated in the normal graduations? I thought they go in order of class rank. You're right. And I'm sure they are all ranked at the top of their class since any professor who values his job has learned it is racism to give a black student anything less than an "A."

Another example of racist multi-culturalism.
Our whole goal is inclusion, not exclusion," said Gloria Aquino Sosa, director of OU's Office of Equity. "We are celebrating the inclusion of these students into the workforce."
The inclusion v. exclusion dichotomy is a red herring, besides being confusing. Notice how the propagandist deflects the word "inclusion", which to most would mean something parallel as "inclusion" in a single graduation ceremony, as to "inclusion" into something else. It's a lie. These people would prefer no unitary graduation ceremony at all. It is separatism the multi-culturalists want to impose. It is the opposite of integration, the former anti-racist stance.
Why not just have a graduation party sponsored by "separate" groups?

Please search and post using the original title.
If you think it needs extra explanation (and I agree...this one does) place
your title in parentheses following the orginal...like this:
At MSU, plans for pomp create friction (Black Only Graduation)
Otherwise we get double posts such as this.
Thanks

Well, let's look at the bright side here.......based upon my experience, it seems that many blacks do indeed tend to view graduation ceremonies as cause for "celebratory" behavior (i.e., hooting, hollering, gyrating in the aisles, etc. when the graduate's name is called.) Perhaps this movement will make us all more comfortable.
