Lieberman: Hobbled At The Big Dance?
Hartford Courant ^ | Apr 9 2002 | DAVID LIGHTMAN

Joe Lieberman's pledge remains resolute and unequivocal: If Al Gore runs for president in 2004, he won't.

No exceptions, no wiggle room.

But it's become something of a noose around Lieberman's political neck, which probably won't loosen anytime soon.

It's also likely to be Topic A, among observers at least, this weekend at the Florida Democratic State Conference, where Lieberman and the former vice president will appear - the first time since the 2000 election season ended that the two ticket mates will have spent extended time together.

Joe did not have any difficulty changing positions on issues when he ran for the vice presidency in 2000. Loyalty might be important to joe, but consistency certainly was not. Let every one run. Divide up the money for the demoncrats. This election will not be about 2004 anyway. It is the beginning of the 2008 election cycle.

"The second risk for Lieberman would be that breaking the pledge, or possibly even suggesting doing so, would undermine some of his greatest political strengths: his integrity - - - -"

I guess integrity is in the eye of the beholder. In my eyes, Lieberman has no integrity.

To change his mind on such an important promise could label Lieberman as a hypocrite

LOL!

To those of you who are not regular Hartford Courant readers, David Lightman is their Washington office guy. He is a shill for the democratic party and is stinking liberal.

"David Lightman is their Washington office guy. He is a shill for the democratic party and is stinking liberal."

Wrong! I've contended for months, that Lightman is LIEberman's pen name. Results are the same though, kidd-o! &;-)

Gore and Lieberman talk occasionally by phone, and trade messages on their hand-held Blackberry computers.

Sounds like Batman and Robin.

Joe Lieberman's pledge remains resolute and unequivocal

I recently observed the spectacle of this man's willingness to exchange his principles for privilege. Why would anyone think that this same man would not do it again.

A person who is willing to exchange his principles for privilege will soon have neither principles nor privilege, or so I've heard.
