If a virgin teenage boy gets sexually aroused by the thought of being intimate with a pretty girl who lives next door, would it be fair to call him a heterosexual?

All human beings are heterosexual by nature. The term heterosexual in the biological sense refers to the way a species reproduces.

The use of the term "homosexual" cannot be used in the same context.

How about in the psychological sense? Does desire play any role in whether or not a person is heterosexual or homosexual?

Do you think that a man who has sex with a woman, yet is thinking about men all the way through it, is heterosexual, since he is engaging in a heterosexual act and that is the way the species reproduces?
