That may have already been done, I'll check it out. Well, at least among the GOP candidates, I don't think Bald John Dochi needs to be there or the watermellon candidate (Green on the outside, red on the inside)
Ok, I know I'm from Bangor and all, but is the Freep on Saturday, the 27th or Monday, the 29th?
I agree, I think it tastes very much like buffalo.
Yes Ma'am,
The event is on Monday as per the title, Tax Freedom Day as far as we understand. Please come join the fun and bring some friends.
That's MONDAY De-ah.
Can't make it on Monday.
Have to work to make the money to pay my taxes (insert irony symbol here).
I'll be there in spirit - good luck for a LOUD, successful FREEP!!
Great, makes for good photos.
Can't wait to meet you all.
That's ok, we'll keep you posted, there'll be other things going on this year.
Thanks for the moral suport.
Sorry I can't make it.
Pouting here.
Someone here mentioned Saturday, which is the 27th, and I will be at the Reenactor's Regimental Ball with the rest of the "Fife and Drum Corps" as well as the Infantry and our "Civilian Support" contingient and no doubt a few Camp followers then feasting and Contra - Dancing.
Perhaps should one of us call Stephanie (local call for you, eh?) and get this somewhat coordinated before we go inviting all the Freepers in New England, here?
I would be just as bummed out missing it as I would be in getting there and finding out it was the wrong day!
I rather speculate that it might go over a bit better if we all show up at once.
Don't know how much of a "Corps" we're going to come up with; I have yet to drum up a Drummer {8^{D~ to accompany my Fife!
I thought some of learning old "World Turned Upside Down", the tune that the British Army under Cornwallis played as they surrendered to Continental Troops under Washington... but I doubt that anyone would recognize the air or it's significance.
Perhaps we could all sing "Year Ob' Jubillo" in celebration of our annual "Emancipation". Perhaps we might "Tweak" or "update" the old Civil-War lyrics a bit...
"Say Mainers hab' you seen de Angus wit' de moustache on him face;
Gwine roun' de Blaine House in Augusta like he gwine to leab de place?
We works an' slaves since January jus' to keep de Gub'ment fine;
From now what we earns goes t' 'sport our Famblies, An' de rest am yo's an' mine!
De taxes paid at las'!
De Gub'ment takes no mo'!
Maine Workin' folk at las' get Freedom
In de Day Ob Jubillo!"
We might need the old Minstrel Banjo for that one!
"Blackface"? ... naah, that would probably be pushing the envelope in a direction we might not want to go ... do we?
How about demanding "reparations" from the Democrats who are overtaxing us? That oughtta tic someone off pretty well!
Shucks; being a Hillbilly from New Hampshire, I missed out on all this fun stuff during the '60's.
Any chance we'll get hosed and tear-gassed? Cool! (better late than never, eh wot?)
As an aside; that item we ordered arrived, and I'll likely be tinkering on it this Evening.
And yes, I would be interested in getting together with the NE Freepers network, if I might, and if they'll have me (not everyone will, you know...).
For God and Country;
Lincoln and LIBERTY too!;
Uncle Jaque ("A Fife Corps of One"...)
No need to be, both the posters and Stephanie state the 29th.
I introduced him at the Lincoln Day Dinner as "not a Republican, but the democRATs worst nightmare."
Yes, but they would be yelling for MORE SOCIALISM not tax cuts.
I'll bring my hackysack
Also bring some signs and feel free tell us how you really feel.
Taxationland
stickers, I have about ten of them left, they have red lettering over a white relective background, and fit perfectly over the "Vacationland" at the bottom of Maine license plate.
PLEASE NOTE:
The Maine State Police have deemed placing these these stickers on your plates to be a crime, "Defacing a state license plate" or someother something or other.
Alas
