The Interfaith Campaign to Safeguard Roe is an educational and advocacy initiative for people of all faiths. The campaign welcomes all who support a federal judiciary that will uphold the constitutional right to choose. We pledge to hold President Bush and the U.S. Senate accountable for confirming federal court judges who will safeguard Roe v. Wade as the law of the land.
Reproductive rights hang in the balance. The right to choose was maintained by a one-vote margin in the most recent U.S. Supreme Court decision on abortion (Stenberg v. Carhart, 2000). In 8 of the 13 circuits, anti-choice judges are the majority. Reproductive rights cases are often decided in these courts and affect women in the states they cover.
The Senate has the constitutional duty of "advice and consent" in all federal court nominations. Once the President announces a nominee, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold hearings to learn more about the nominee. Then, the Committee will vote on whether to send the nomination to the full Senate, where all Senators may vote.
Supreme Court and other federal judges are appointed for life. Each appointment can impact the freedom to choose for decades. President Bush could appoint more than 30 percent of federal appeals court judges and two or three Supreme Court justices. Those who are confirmed must uphold the constitutional right to safe, legal abortion.
The Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice was founded in 1973 as the Religious Coalition for Abortion Rights (RCAR) in response to efforts to overturn the landmark Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade. Today, the Religious Coalition comprises more than 40 national organizations from 18 denominations, movements, and faith groups. They include the Episcopal Church, Presbyterian Church (USA), United Church of Christ, United Methodist Church, Unitarian Universalist Association, and the Conservative, Humanist, Reconstructionist, and Reform movements of Judaism.

These peoples' "religious" philosophy is "abortion uber alles". Their purpose in life is to see that others die.

I thought these were the "mainstream" denominations.

These people or no more Christian than Anton LaVey. Amen! Straight from hell.
To: Fast 1975
If we were to pull that kind of political stunt to block certain judges those people would be going balistic!
To: Fast 1975
There are religions and religions. These people are closer to pagan Moloch-worshippers and temple prostitutes than Christians.

You are right to be concerned. No one can be an abortion advocate, as well as be a Christian or a Jew.
End of story.

The Religious Coalition comprises more than 40 national organizations from 18 denominations, movements, and faith groups. They include the Episcopal Church, Presbyterian Church (USA), United Church of Christ, United Methodist Church. The Mainline Protestant Churches have been breaking the Ten Commandments when they began participating in abortion since Roe v. Wade. They have declined ever since Democrats took over the leadership, and they will continue to decline because they stand for nothing, just like the democrat party. Sick, sick, sick that these once proud denominations could sink so low........

I was baptized in a Methodist church! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Alan Keyes summed this up pricelessly on his show the other night dealing with a couple of pro-abortion and pro-mainstreaming of homosexuality "Catholic" activists. To paraphrase, "Those in the Church who believe what you believe are symptomatic of the problem the Church finds itself in today, and it is simply time for you to go elesewhere! America is a free country; no one's forcing you to be Catholic."
Amen.

I agree, these denominations (UMC, Pres-USA, UCC ect) belong to these organizations and pay dues out of offerings to promote this agenda, which includes public funding. The website also is full of attacks on the so-called "Religous Right". Its unfortunate what has happened to these institutions, many in my family continue to belong to these churches- It appears they have become a weekly gathering for Krispy Kreme and coffee- and left-wing agenda.

Ironically the Methodist Church has recently issued a public statement supporting higher tobacco taxes stating
In compliance with denominations Social Principles which recommends total abstinence from the use of tobacco by all ages and advocates the restriction of smoking in public areas and workplaces"
