Washington (dpa) - The head of a Chicago-based Islamic charity accused of having links to alleged terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden was arrested Tuesday, media reports said.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation charged that Enaam Arnaout, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Syria, and the Benevolence International Foundation have had links with bin Laden for more than a decade, the CNN television news network reported.
Both were charged with perjury for denying in a lawsuit they filed against the U.S. government that they had supported terrorist groups in the past.
The group launched the suit after federal agents raided the charity's Chicago offices in December and froze its assets.

Wasn't slamming ya for a dupe post. Just pointing folks to the original thread. The original thread hadn't mentioned exactly what was going on. Reading thru it though, they were the same incidents. No slam - just bird-doggin' on my part. ;-)

We all do our part. :)

The affidavit signed by FBI Agent Robert Walker said that the organization was founded by a wealthy Saudi sheik, Adil Abdul Galil Betargy, who is an associate of bin Laden, according to documents seized in Bosnia. There go our allies again, those pesky Saudis.
Regarding the fellow arrested, the naturalized American citizen from Syria: Must not be very tough to pass an INS background check, or what?

Is lying a crime? I thought that x42 told us that it was OK to lie about some things. Only if it's just about sex.

Only if it's just about sex.Now that doesn't make sense. Why is Hillary so concerned about rape victims rights? Do the rapist have a right to lie about it?

Well, I did a search on "perjury"... I did a search for both "charity" and "perjury" around 2:10 or so, and nothing popped up. The first thread, of course, had neither in the title, and you posted yours just after I looked. So, thanks for posting it with a good, descriptive headline! (I didn't try searching for Al Quaeda since it's spelled different ways.)
